Makimono Sushi Bar & Restaurant

This was the first time eating at this restaurant and it will also be the last. We went for the all you can eat lunch. The fish didn’t taste fresh, with the exception of the salmon sashimi. That was delicious. Everything else was a disappointment.

The food did not taste fresh and left a fishy aftertaste. No, I’m not talking about mackerel or anything. We went for lunch and had all you can eat. The tuna roll, spicy tuna roll, avocado/salmon roll, and shockingly the cucumber/avocado roll (vegetarian) were all fishy tasting. The spicy tuna was zero on the spice scale and the yam rolls were pretty flavourless, but had a nice crunch. The service was okay (one server was 5 star and the other was 2 star at best) and so was the restaurant. Will not go back.

We had such a wonderful experience at Makimono Sushi Bar & Restaurant! The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The service was excellent – the staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The atmosphere was also great, with a clean and relaxing environment that made our dining experience even better. Definitely recommend this place for anyone who loves sushi and Japanese food. We’ll be coming back again!

We went for lunch today. It is okay. The fish seemed fresh, which is good however, our server was very unfriendly. I was afraid to even ask her for something. My husband had to ask 3 times for a water. I found their eel sauce to be very odd and different than most places….. too bbqy for me and I am more used to the sweet soy sauce flavour. They had a ton of options which I liked and appreciated. They were very cheap on their sauces and would give you the bare minimum. I would go back, but wouldn’t say it’s my favourite or my go to

My wife and I used to love this place. They WERE a good Japanese restaurant, but our visit last week was bad, the shrimp tempura was more breading than shrimp, the dragon roll was falling apart. The server may have been having a bad day so she wasn’t pleasant but we still gave her a tip. That may the last visit to this place.

Everything was absolutely amazing!!! Bomb.com highly recommend.

I have been going to makimono for years now and it has never disappointed me once. The buffet is the way to go if it’s your first time and try out the hot and sour soup.

Great food

Rolls were a small step above grocery store sushi. Tempura had no flavour and was somehow chewy and not crisp. Black pepper beef was luke warm and steak was cool like the shrimp skewer. It wasn't busy. A child was ill to their stomach (as in vomit) at the table beside us and while they cleaned it up they left the paper towels etc there and the smell was not going away (the fact the family stayed and the kid was covered didn't help). We had to ask for a change in table and the place wasn't busy but they made it seem like we were being so unreasonable. Our first and last time at this chain.

The food was okay, the proteins were mostly on the sweet side and the rice tasted like smoke. Overall an okay place.

This place is great

Well we are new to the area and wanted to try out a sushi place. It was absolutely horrible. The fish is not fresh, it tastes extra fishy as if it had been sitting out. And for the price you pay and the quality. I'd never go back nor recommended!

Good food, good service.

Fresh huge delicious servings for lunch for $30 tax in for two. I doubt you will find a better meal. Bento box was served with California rolls and assorted tempura shrimp and a large serving of teriyaki chicken with soup, rice and salad included. The tempura box came with assorted tempura and rice and soup and salad. Great service and a very clean restaurant. Highly recommend.
