Just tried Midami Sushi in downtown Whitby for the first time and all the 5 star google reviews were true. The staff were great and the food was amazing quality with huge portions for the price. We didn’t order sushi but had the Chicken Poke bowl and the chicken teriyaki. salad and miso soup included were also top notch. Highly recommend

Service was decent, they were very busy with the dinner rush. Unfortunately it was packed and was seated by washroom entrance, and unfortunately there was a strong sewage smell. Food taste was great, but unfortunately within minutes of leaving the establishment, both myself and my partner developed intense stomach pain.
Currently we both have mild food poisoning.

Friendly staff, amazing tasting food! The angry crab roll is fantastic. The extra yam fries on top of the yam roll is a nice touch! And, one of the only places I've had sushi, where the spicy salmon is actually spicy. Good job.

This is my favourite sushi place in all of Durham region (and I have tried many). The rolls are big, fresh and delicious! I also like how they have some interesting ingredient combinations for the veggie rolls. They have a great selection of veggie rolls for those who are looking for this option. The staff are also very nice. I really recommend this place!

Midami is an unassuming sushi restaurant. You would never know it was so good, from the outside!
But boy, oh boy!
This is some of the best sushi I've ever had. Large meaty rolls, with a beautiful presentation. Fresh, delicious, and fair prices!
I loved it!
The service was also super jovial.
The decor is okay - nice, but okay. This is the only area where it pulls down the score. The street location is also not adding to its prestige.
For a casual and pleasant sushi outing, I highly recommend Midami Sushi.
We were craving for miso soup and sushi. The miso soup was good but they only add scallions.
I personally do not like cream cheese in sushi so that was my least favourite. All ingredients paired well but it just wasn’t my taste.
I’ve tried most of the dynamite sushi’s here on multiple occasions and they are all good.
We have ordered vegetarian sushi but can’t really provide a genuine feedback. It definitely pales in comparison to the seafood option.
The table next to us ordered the Japchae and I heard them comment that it was really good. So maybe I will try that next time.
We weren’t very hungry so didn’t order much but I could see couples going to town with their orders.
The place is clean and there’s discount if you pay cash. Service is quick. Although I would prefer if the server checked on us a few times instead of we having to call her.
No alcoholic beverages on the menu but I don’t see anyone really craving for it when the food so good.
I would definitely eat here again as this place serves great sushi’s that do not fall apart like others do. You can see the quality and skills in the ingredients, presentation and taste.
Vegetarian options: Midami has a dedicated section for vegetarian options.
Parking: Parking is shared by multiple stores. I haven’t run into issues finding parking. But I can imagine there being situations when parking might be difficult to find as it is a small lot.
Kid-friendliness: We visited with a 18month old. They did not have a high chair but did offer us a small bowl and spoon so that the baby could eat by herself.

This is probably one of the best sushi places I've had in Durham, let alone Oshawa.
You can tell they use high quality fish, and that they pay attention to their craft. The sashimi is really thick, the sushi rolls are pretty big and while the fish on the nigiri is more typical in size, it is are still really good!
While this place may charge a bit more than other places in the area, the quality and size justifies the price. More importantly, if you have a shell fish allergy, they will make the accommodations for you. It's surprising how many places will not do this so for someone like me, it is extremely important.
Definitely give Midami Sushi a try if you want some high quality sushi and are in the North Oshawa area! I don't think you'll be disappointed.
