The fish & chips here are amazing! If you are looking for GF fish & chips you definitely need to stop here. We stopped in on our way home from Hamilton because my boys favourite food is fish. We found this place because it has GF fish and when we were all done my oldest son went back in so he could tell them they were the best fish & chips he had ever eaten in his life.

I came to eat the Gluten Free Fish and Chips on Good Friday 2025!! It's very hard to find GF for F&C and I appreciate Schooner's offering them. Quality and food are great despite being very pricey. Our order was messed up and they forget to give us an item. I called and spoke with Tiffany the manager who offered to either reimburse us or give us the item with a free side (we choose the later). If you have trued Schooner's I'd defiantly recommend it.

My husband and I ordered the halibut and chips to go from this restaurant. The batter to fish ratio was way off. There was far too much batter and the fish itself had a fishy smell to it (which typically indicates it's not fresh). It was disappointing to say the least given how costly halibut is these days. The chips were good and our order was taken promptly/ready on time. This less than stellar review really just comes down to the fish itself, which in my opinion, was the worst I've ever had.

Giving one star because zero is not an option. Highly disappointed and will not ever return. We arrived at 8pm after checking the website for hours and driving 30 minutes to get there because I have Celiac. The young man behind the counter said we couldn't eat there even though they weren't scheduled to close for half an hour (nothing is indicated on the website that dine in closes before the actual restaurant, if it was, I would have understood). He agreed to let us eat in a long as we were finished by 8:30pm.
Then this miserable lady (owner) came out with a scowl on her face and barked at us that we can't eat in because they need to clean and mop the floors.
I almost canceled my order, but said fine, we will be uncomfortable and eat in our car (because driving home would result in soggy, cold food).
I ordered gluten free halibut ($25.95) and poutine (extra charge) with no gravy since I brought my own (I've eaten here before and their gluten free gravy is horrible, so I bring my own). They offered no discount for the fact that I didn't get gravy that they charge $2.99 for, but they quickly charged my husband 75 cents for tartar sauce.
They brought the food out and told us we could eat there (but let us stand there thinking we were going to go eat in our car until the order actually was ready).
The gluten free fish batter was not cooked to the point that I couldn't even eat it. The fries were not fully cooked. They clearly rushed the order because they were more concerned with closing the door and running out at 8:30pm on the dot.
Customer service was abysmal, food wasn't much better. A huge waste of almost $70 for a meal only half eaten.
Will not make that mistake again.
If you are looking for under cooked food with a bad attitude, this is your place!

Small dining room. Excellent service. Friendly staff. Excellent gluten free options and good protection to prevent cross contamination

Stopped in after a celebration of life for my grandmother. Had a slightly large party for the seating available. But it worked out.

I just grabbed poutine and was very happy with it. Fantastic flavour. Somehow fish and chip places always get this right.

My cousin had the gluten free fish and chips and grabbed some GF onion rings too!

Everyone at the table got to try the rings and they were fantastic. Huuuge rings!

I think everyone was overall satisfied. Except my uncle with the scallops. They’re just your run of the mill, frozen boxed scallops. Nothing special.

The cups for water though…. Could be bigger. They provided little 2 ounce styrofoam cups and free to serve yourself water at the counter. I had to go up a few times.

Overall. Fantastic experience!

The food was awesome! I need gluten free and they specialize in gluten free! Service was quick. Supplying my own gluten free condiments so no cross contamination due to sharing with others who are. eating non GF. The atmosphere is casual, but clean and modern.

Picked up 3 halibut and Chip dinners, 1coleslaw and a gravy over $80.. Not edible in the garbage dinner ruined. Obviously the grease was rancid because the flavor and color was horrible on the chips and the fish.. secondly what do you make the batter or rubber? Tiny overcooked fish more chewy than beef jerky.. battered fish at a Chinese buffet is 100 times better than this. I've lived in the neighborhood of this restaurant for 35 years and I know it well you should be ashamed..

Spent $11 bucks on a medium fries. The absolutely worse chips we have ever had. Especially for a fish & chips shop.

Ps....as per the restaurant response ...you shouldn't cut or serve rotten potatoes. Customers who chose to go to a fish and chips shop expect fresh cut not frozen chips. Don't blame your customers.
At no point in your ignorant reply did you apologize. Terrible customer service to go along with terrible food
