We were excited to visit after hearing great things. We were warmly greeted and initially received prompt drink service, but when our two additional guests arrived, we waited about 45 minutes for our server to return just to place drink/ food orders. Our meals then took over an hour to arrive, and the food was mediocre. My husband’s dish did not match the server’s description and came with the wrong side. When he raised the issue, no replacement was offered and the server was annoyed.
When the bill arrived, the incorrect dish was still included. When we asked for it to be removed, the server became visibly upset and mentioned that the cost would come out of her paycheque. We tried to reassure her that we were not placing blame on her for the mistake, but she was dismissive and came across as rude. We requested to speak with a manager, as we did not feel it was appropriate for the server to be penalized. The kitchen manager was pleasant and helped de-escalate the situation, which we appreciated.
We remained patient and polite throughout the entire experience, but the lack of professionalism ultimately means we will not be returning.

Not a good experience .Extremely slow service. It took 2 hours before we could place our food order . Constantly chasing down our server to get service it was crazy! I had to send back a draft beer it was that bad . The table beside us also had to send back there beer due to the offensive flavour. I ordered Cajun wings they came plain . When I pointed out the mistake to our server she insisted that they were Cajun?? very strange? This WAS my go to restaurant for wings .I ate them anyway because I was hungry they tasted fine . Before leaving we did speak with the manager and explained our concerns and she reasonable . We were dinning with another couple and they had issues also but I will let write there own review .

I always enjoy eating here. The philly cheese steak is a favourite but I've never made a bad choice here. Service is attentive and frankly, some of the waittresses are pretty easy on the eyes. The decor features a lot of old movie posters which is not exactly original but still pleasant enough and overall the place is a very cozy, welcoming place to be.

I don’t generally write reviews, maybe a couple a year. I was passing through Owen Sound and my planned meal stop fell through but Shorty’s was on my way so I decided to try it. I was surprised to have the best Roast Beef sandwich meal, maybe of my life. It was real, roast beef, like actually just shaved from a roast. The bun was fresh. And it came with two, small baked potatoes with cheese and bacon. Plus coleslaw. It was great as was Jovee my server and I will certainly be back.

Absolutely amazing! Loved my whole experience here! Made my day, staff was over accommodating. Even sent me home home with short bread cookies for my father who has stage 4 cancer and loves them at Christmas time. Bless their souls. Bay far the best restaurant experience I’ve had in a long while, most definitely coming back again and soon! Loved it 😍

Our table of ten arrived five minutes early for our 5:15pm reservation tonight. Our server was pleasant. It didn’t take too long to order drinks, then our food.
As time went by our server kind of disappeared and was no where to be found. She disappeared for 45 minutes or so.
At 6:15pm I started to wonder if we should just leave. I walked around the restaurant to find our server, no luck.
I spoke briefly with another server, who seemed to be having an instant breakdown. I barely got two words out of my mouth before she went into a defensive onslaught. She was having a tough time with something. I looked over at my table and they were looking at me… we were all confused at her behaviour.
At 6:35pm I sought out the manager/owner. I was met by a rude woman in her 70’s (or so). I explained our time frame of waiting to her. Her surprising response, verbatim, was “I don’t care”. I was pretty surprised at her attitude. Knowing that I was dealing with a grizzled restaurateur lol, I suggested to her that maybe she could do something with our bills as our wait was pretty ridiculous. The nicest thing about the owner was her bedazzled belt.
A gentleman accompanied by 2-3 kids came in well after we were seated. Their table was served food, and finished their food before we even saw ours. Maybe Shorty’s looks after locals before serving out of towners. The similar sized table beside us seemed feeling bad for us…
My wife’s chicken Caesar wrap was void of Caesar dressing/sauce. The Reuben I ordered is pictured in this review… self explanatory. It’s like an 80’s Wendy’s commercial… Where’s the beef? lol The fries were really good though!
Our server, who again was pleasant, took it upon herself to take the taxes off our bills.
We might have attended Shorty’s on the wrong night, I don’t know.
With regards to the owner… there should be a negative stars option.
It was a Saturday night so things were a bit crazy. Although we had to wait for food for a while, the girls performed an outstanding job working hard to extent of their capabilities. That was impressive! Thank you!

We are new to the area and this spot was on a very short list of places even worth checking out in the Owen Sound area. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the Boston pizza or Kelsey mediocre quality food. I expect more from a mom and pop owned establishment. I’ll take my 140-160 dollars for my dinner date night with my hubby and go to Olivia’s in Shallow Lake every time. Disappointed to say the least.

Sometimes you just stumble on places that turn out to be the best decision, and tonight me and my girlfriends found Shorty's. Holy smokes, what a great restaurant and vibe. All the servers radiated hospitality and the food was absolutely superb. We don't get to Owen Sound often, but I hope we find our way back here.

Our food was fabulous. We had the halibut with fries, Caesar salads and the NY steak. Highly recommended the steak- cooked to perfection and came with fresh cooked vegetables, onion rings, twice baked potato and garlic toast. The halibut was lightly battered (lots more fish than batter, unlike other places) and the coleslaw was creamy and delicious. Highly recommend eating here, the staff are super friendly and welcoming. Excellent service and excellent food. You gotta eat here.
