I REALLY wanted to love this place. Iāve been a couple of times and itās a 45 minute drive to get there. First let me say that there are a couple of really yummy things. I LOVE their sweet potato fries and dip. By far the best Iāve ever eaten. Love the macaroni and cheese with smoked meat on top too. I loved the chicken! So moist and juicy yet really crispy coating (just the right amount not too much or too little). The burger was just ok. The part that puzzles me is the famous ribs. Ok they taste great but they seem to be very dried out and tough. Three of us had the baby back ribs and each one of us said the same thing. I could make better at home. Why pay so much for āfamousāribs when I could just purchase their sauce and make better, tender ones at home. I donāt know if maybe they are better when the restaurant first opens, but the times we went it was later in the evening. Maybe they donāt know how to keep them from drying out?? Not sure, I may try them again on a weekend earlier in the day because there are things I really enjoyed.
On another note.. the flies. I know that flies get into restaurants especially this time of year, but this was a bit ridiculous. We were constantly batting them away, hoping we wouldnāt fling any rib sauce while doing so trying to eat. The bathroom, the flies were all over the sink too. I looked around and didnāt see anything to combat the flies. Maybe there should be fly traps or those blue lights that a lot of restaurants have. I was a bit fearful as I was thinking if there are that many flies in the dining room, I didnāt want to think about what they were like in the kitchen where food is stored and prepared. When leaving the restaurant there was another group of people leaving and commented on the sewage smell. Agreed, it did smell awful. Wonder if thatās whatās attracting so many flies? This place has potential and Iām really rooting for them to read comments made and to try and better themselves. One more try for us. Loved Tow Mater out front!! Nice touch for the place. Great photo ops.

You like ribs? After eating at camp 31, you'll love them
My first time. My daughter raved about it. We drove in from Toronto. Definitely worth the drive. Interesting history about the name. I will definitely be back. Unfortunately they were so busy the day before that they ran out of ribs and thatās what we came for, but there were plenty of other things to try.

The food was really good! At first I was skeptical about the portion size but it was enough food for me and more than enough for my friend. The gravy was on point, they have multiple sauces to choose from and the service was great.
My only complaint would be the amount of flies and they did have a sign on the door telling patrons to keep it closed but it was still problematic. Otherwise, would go again.

The food was good but the ribs were dry. Everything was flavoured well and the cornbread was nice but could have been fresh for the time we waited.

Cool spot. They have a lot of awards for smoking and BBQ. Their homemade BBQ sauces are incredible. 4 star is due to how they present the menu. You get beans and a side but it just doesn't provide enough variety with all thst smoked meat. They seem to charge extra for everything making it complex to order if you have never been there. They also don't offer dessert. Not a problem for many but a bit of a disappointment for some. Adding a smoked dessert or 2 puke be amazing.
