Although we were unable to do the tour due to staff shortage, the manager was eager to please and did a fabulous job of making things right! Great staff, very helpful, very patient! Was a very fun afternoon!
Understandably it was the end of the season so only a few staff for many tables but they did a bang up job. The weather and ambience made the weight worthwhile.
Stay Away! We organized our anniversary weekend around our pre booked winery tour. When we arrived, we were informed that they do not do tours, and Open Table wasn't supposed to book anything foe the winery pavillion. We proceeded to order tastings and food from a very rude server, and paid far more than at wineries on the mainland. They also only sell open bottles of wine to take home. Will definitely not return. Try the many beautiful wineries in the Kingsville / Harrow area for superior service and products at a more reasonable price.
Was nervous before arriving after reading lots of reviews about terrible experiences with the service here. Everything mentioned came through with our visit as well. We had a tour for 4 people booked for noon. When we arrived there was a large line of people waiting to order a drink at the bar. Once I made it to the front, I told Ethan we had a tour booked. He told me that they only do tours for at least 6-8 people and to come back another time. Other people overheard and said they would enjoy the tour also, which gave us plenty of people to meet the minimum. This only made him more upset and he started to raise his voice telling me they are very understaffed, a wedding is happening in the afternoon and he still won't take us on the tour we booked even after meeting the minimum number of people. I called him out on his lie to me and asked why he told me about the minimum for the tour if he wasn't going to do it either way. He did not like that and was speechless. Ethan needs to find a new job he enjoys, he was rude and unprofessional. When you work at a place that takes 1.5 hour ferry to get to, you don't just tell someone that has booked a tour to come back because you don't want to do it as if that's only a minor inconvenience. We did try some wine, but wish I hadn't. Some of the food was good; however if you are going here for the wine or the tour I'd suggest passing. If there were more options on the island this place would be closed, unfortunately lack of competition allows it to operate this way and remain open.
Are the actual experience at the Pelee Island pavilion was wonderful. The staff were helpful, courteous, and very speedy. However, calling in advance, inquiring about booking the VIP tour experience was awful. The staff member I spoke with, was very rude, short, and overall dismissive. The only time his tone was at all friendly was when he was saying goodbye.
Beautiful Property, Excellent Service by staff , very Knowledgeable and friendly.
That said extremely disappointing that the Island Winery charges the premium Wine tasting price of $30.00 and a 15% credit of glass or Bottle that must be opened and drank there. If you visit the Main Land Winery there is 2 prices of $20 and $30 plus a $15.00 credit towards a same day purchase of a bottle . I do not like being taken advantage of... I know there is Over Head and limited visiting time for their Island Winery but up charging because it's a Tourist attraction is a little much. I won't be back and unfortunately I won't purchase from their Main Land Winery do to this .
Quite place, nice people, great for biking.
Stopped by on a Monday afternoon. Slow to get service. Ordered the apple and blue cheese flatbread. It arrived and we were given no plates and no napkins. No one checked in on us so we couldn't ask for anything. There were no apples on the flatbread so overwhelmed by blue cheese. You have to pay and tip when you order so no lowering the tip for poor service. Nice outdoor setting but otherwise not much to recommend it.
I came here two years ago and had a good tasting bought a couple of cases in the wine store took them home and have enjoyed them for the last two years.
Now, you can no longer buy bottles to take with you from this winery! This most horrible idea ever. If you buy a bottle here, they have to open. I came here sailing all the way from the US to pick up a case or two of good wine like I did two years ago. However, that options not available. The local wine store doesn’t have any selection of the wines from his winery. Whoever made these policy change, people in leaderships in the company, or government officials , should all be fired. This is just horrible.
Visually appealing, but staffing needs improvement. Staff are overwhelmed and interactions are chaotic. We waited 20-30 minutes before ordering drinks AND food at the bar. Ethan, the bartender, provided excellent service. After 50 minutes to and hour, our food finally arrived, reflecting operational issues rather than staff shortcomings.

DO NOT use open table to book a tour. It gives incorrect times. We arrived for our "reaerved"tour time at 1pm only to be told they don't have a tour until 2pm. The problem is with open table bookings allowing of schedule times. They only do tours at certain times and only if there are 6 people. So we had a glass of wine on the patio while we waited. Would have ordered food but the waiter didn't come round. Only 1 guy on. So after waiting there were only 4 people at 2 for a tour and they wouldn't do it. I get that. Would have done the wine tasting but found out they can't sell bottles unless they crack it open first. They don't have a retail license! NEVER been to a winery where I couldn't buy bottles. So it's illegal to drive with open liquor in the car and we wanted to take some home. Apparently we could buy bottles at the Kingsville location but we weren't going there. The other option is to order online and it it will be delivered to your house in 4 or 5 days free of charge. We've been to many wineries and the best part of the winery experience is tasting their wine and buying bottles to take home. It's too bad. So we settled on going to the lcbo. The staff were really friendly and I bet they lose a lot in tip money. Hopefully they get their license to sell back soon!
Good wine and a beautiful place to visit! Their wine tasting is $20 and get $15 back as a credit, it unbelievable! The staff are also super nice!
We attended and waited 20 mins to then learn the last tour was at 4 even though we had appointments reso for 5. Service didnt care said come another day. We were only on the island for the day. Travelled in specially to see the winery. Very disappointed
We visited the winery with family on Aug 7, 2024. We raved to our son how we've had great experiences at the winery in previous years and they provide you with vouchers if you do a tasting to purchase wine from their retail store. First, although friendly the 2 guys working knew absolutely nothing about the wines, nor did they explain they no longer sell retail. We were told tastings were $20 (was only $20 in the past) or $30 depending on the wines chosen and each person received a $15 voucher (no longer $20) that could be used towards merchandise or wine. After our tastings we went looking for the retail store only to be told it was gone. We asked why and didn't really get an explanation that made any sense. We were told we could purchase wine from the same list as the tastings (very limited selection) and the cheapest bottle was $34 (wine they sell at the LCBO for $13.95). We were then told they had to open the wine we wanted to purchase .. huh??? We were not explained this at the beginning otherwise we would have left and purchased wine at the LCBO. We ended up paying over $120 for 3 tastings and 2 bottles of wine. We visit many wineries on the mainland in Essex county and none charge more than $14 for a tastings and every single employee is an expert in the wines that make. I wish I could give this review -10 because that's what this recent visit deserves.
Although we will return to the island as we do each year we will not be visiting the winery again, nor will we be recommending to friends or family. Such a disappointment for a once enjoyable experience. Not sure what happened but I do see a lot of other reviews with the same experience as ours.
