The Dog & Goat Restaurant

First time visit in early October while on vacation from Indiana. Everything about this restaurant is fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious. We had a party of three adults, visiting at about 1:45 in the afternoon. Since it was the off-season, there was only one other family there, but I can imagine this place is hopping during the summer months. There is abundant outside seating, but we sat inside near the bar. The decor is just what you would want in a Lake Erie island gathering spot in all the good ways. We shared garlic shrimp (scrumptious!) and nachos (incredibly good, simple, and with homemade tortilla chips). We could have stayed much longer, but we needed to get back to the ferry. Definitely someplace we would return to again and again!

Same thing happened to us. Got turned away because we were 13 who showed up at "The start of dinner rush"? There was three table of people in the restaurant.
Doggoat proceeded to call the other restaurants on the island trying what seemed to be to ruin our night. Pretty poor service if you ask me.

Stone house came through for us once again! We will not eat anywhere else on our future visits.

As a first visit, at the beginning they served us quickly, but the food arrived quite late, an hour and fifteen minutes and that was because I went to ask if it was too long before they would bring it to us, I understand that it is not a fast food place, but I think they need to know their food preparation times and more if they know that it is a place that will have many customers arriving and leaving because they will continue their trip. Thank you for the service but I will very much hesitate to return...

I ate here last Friday, 8/23. I would not recommend it and will not go back on my next trip to Pelee.

My wife ordered the mixed salad with a side of burnt ends. The salad was mostly iceburg lettuce and was underwhelming. The burnt ends were soupy and salty.

My pickerel was good and the beer was cheap. However, when we got our bill we were charged for a full order of burnt ends ($15 vs 7) and was also charged $31 for the pickerel despite it being listed on the menu for $24. I questioned the waiter about the pickerel but was told that was the correct price. Unfortunately, the bill got paid before I could ask for a menu. It was our most expensive meal on the island and it didn't live up to it.

Had a lovely lunch today and our meals were good. Great server who lives on the island and he was so interesting and nice to chat with. Service and food was great and prices as well. The perch was excellent!!

Turned our group of 13 away with only two tables of people there on a thursday night. I get that can be hard to accommodate without a reservation but then called all the other restaurants on the island to warn them we were coming...? stonehouse was more than welcoming and will forever get my island dinners.

I had a wonderful time at the Dog & Goat. Ice cold beer, welcoming atmosphere, friendly service and an amazing Perch lunch. I returned many times on my week vacation on the Island. Can't wait to return. Thanx to Dan and his staff.
