very disappointed. Google page should be updated to indicate NO DINE-IN. Pictures on Google all show a Dine-In restaurant. This place is a take-out counter.
We ordered 11 dishes for pickup for a family celebration. They were ready on time. Service was friendly and courteous. The food was outstanding and represented good value for money. We will definitely return.

Food is average at best. Not spicy for Indian food. Expensive with small portion size. Biriyani 65 did not resemble anything like Biriyani or chicken 65. The chicken seasoning was yellow for crying out loud. Chicken was also dry whether it was in the sauce or not.
Biryani did taste like biryani. There things like tamato, almond, tamarind and various other things.... I bought samosa too it was good.
Food was amazing. But for the price of $20 for the goat curry the portion size should be way bigger. I would definitely come back if the portions were bigger, it wasn’t enough to fill me.

I recently moved to Pembroke from Ottawa and yesterday I discovered this Indian food gem in Petawawa.....Zaffran. I ordered takeaway so really can't comment on a dining-in experience. But their food is excellent and by far the best takeaway of any kind I've had in the region. I ordered the daal tadke, chicken pan biryani and butter naan and they were very good. Lovely, pleasant people and a spotless environment. My compliments to the owners!

Ask for mild. Had to throw out. Served cold-thanks! Sold me on the Nan bread but misunderstood I said yes. Rice wasn't fresh either boys. Everything looked like it needed cleaning (badly), starting with the glass door. Yikes! Never again.
At Petawawa location We ordered veg pakora, kadai paneer, garlic naan and chicken biryani. Veg pakora was alright but had half filled chutney in an already small container.
Kadai paneer was below average. Paneer was dry and falling apart and they went heavy on tomato gravy, as a result it was sour.
Garlic naan had little to no garlic taste.
Chicken biryani was the most disappointing. Lacked salt and spice. Portions were alright.
They also didn’t have bunch of things on menu. Good riddance as everything we did ended up ordering was mid af.

$18 just for channa and only one bathura man that’s too much expensive even without pickle and Dahi
There is also no cutlery and napkins
Not worth it
Very notable decline in quality over the past several months. We've been ordering every couple of months since they first opened but this most recent time may be our last. The butter chicken has deteriorated significantly; it's now just tomato paste. The samosas, on our most recent order, tasted like chlorine (every one at the table made the same comment at the same time), and mixed up items on your order are increasingly routine.
All lamb dishes are now off the menu; chicken wings are new.
This place was great when they first opened in Pembroke a few years ago. I would strongly recommend they return their focus to the basics (and get rid of the new chicken wings on their menu while they're at it).
We'd love to be motivated to order again! There's a paucity of decent take-out in the valley.

Zaffran used to be great but every time I order it seems that the amount of meat in each dish is decreasing and the flavours seem to be more and more dull.
I miss the old quality of zaffran, not sure what changed behind the kitchen but it’s not the same as it was a few years ago.
If you’re really craving Indian it still is okay, but not what it was.
The food here is absolutely delicious, and when you ask for spicy that make it proper spicy none of that pansy stuff lol. Great prices for the large portions you receive. I’ve eaten a dozens of Indian restaurants across Canada and this is definitely in the top 5. Only reason why I have 3 stars for atmosphere is for the time being it’s take out only. Must try!

Totally misses the mark of Indian takeout. Gajar ka halwa with ice cream? Chat papri with golgappa type papri with no dahi. Chicken korma hardly had any chicken in it (and was very sweet ?), super confused with this dish, not worth it for 20 dollars, also lacked flavour, just bombarded with chilli powder even after choosing medium spicy, maybe to mask lacked of use of other spices. Samosa lacked flavour if not eaten with the chutney as well. Not worth the price. Marigold in pembroke has good portions and is very reasonably priced if you're looking for Indian food.
We ordered take out for the first time on Monday Sept 16th.
Will definitely be going back!
The food was flavourful and well prepared. Delicious!
The man at the counter was very kind and patient with us, explaining the different dishes and answering all of our questions. Great customer service.
Don't be intimidated about trying it if you've never eaten authentic Indian food, they will gladly help you choose your meal.
I didn't give full stars for atmosphere because they haven't finished the seating area yet.
I'm looking forward to trying their buffet.
100% will definitely be going back.
