This is one of those instances where a company's reputation is stellar and then a new owner takes over and gets to capitalize on that. It took me over 6 weeks to get a refund from a large order of cupcakes that I paid for up front and no longer needed due to work travel changes (I gave 6 months' notice so it's not like special ingredients were purchased, etc). After playing email tag and sending weekly follow ups, I showed up on the doorstep and finally got a refund (we live close to Ottawa).I will say that the serving staff was absolutely delightful, listened to me, showed empathy, and even looked at the till to see if they had enough cash. They took my name and number to pass on to the owner and the issue was resolved that day. I waited in line and watched them interact with customers and they were truly wonderful demonstrating care to each customer even though it was a very busy Saturday early afternoon and I'm sure they were feeling it.

Lattes are great, tarts are awesome but the cakes/cupcakes always just taste like cornstarch and sugar. Not much actual flavour to them and they’re a bit dry and inconsistent. Kinda wish items were labelled properly in the display case so I know what I’m buying.

Black honey used to be my favourite place in Peterborough, but since the new owner took over, the quality of products have gone way down, it no longer feels like a cozy artist cafe, but cold feeling, especially with the lack of art on the walls.

Cheddar Jalapeño loaf with no cheddar or jalapeño makes for a highly disappointing loaf.We order this along with some diner rolls for thanksgiving weekend, we ordered ahead of time for a Sunday morning pickup. A few weeks after we placed the order we got a call confirming it and saying to pickup in the coffee shop, a few days later we got a call saying that actually they won’t be open Sunday and to pick them up Saturday. We were coming from out of town and chose this bakery since they were open on the Sunday, who like day old buns. But Anyways it was cutting it close so we just said ok.When we came to pick them up (prepaid) there was a table just inside the door and our name was on a bag on the table. So I picked them up and was quickly snapped at by one of the bakers. Something about messing up their system.

Without a doubt the best cake I've ever tasted simply amazing
An absolute gem. I had a quiche and salad which was delicious. It had incredibly friendly staff and a comfy surrounding. They seemed busy but perhaps that is to be expected.

I would come here regularly but after my last experience I won't be going back. Waited 40 minutes for a quiche that I had to go up and ask for, it was forgotten about. It was served cold and no apology was given. Kind of wish I didn't tip beforehand...

My first visit to BlackHoney Bakery and I was not impressed; not impressed by the cluttered inside of this restaurant (some spots appeared dusty), not impressed by the minimal space to maneuver around in, plus the confusing layout and where to order was only relieved by following the people ahead of me, then to top it off the lackluster, unwelcoming request by the clerk asking me what I wanted after waiting for 10 minutes all put a damper on my excitement to try out this place! Needless to say I can't recommend. The two stars are for the cookies I bought which were surpringly pretty good.Paid parking is available on the street but hard to find. Bakery entrance is not wheelchair accessible, and inside bakery is not wheelchair friendly.
