Terrible Experience with Enticing Cakes. Stay away. Service from hell

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Enticing Cakes in Lakefield, Canada. We ordered a cake for our daughter's 15th birthday, paying CAD $146 in advance. The cake was supposed to arrive before 2 PM, but it didn't show up until around 6 PM, long after our daughter's celebration had ended. This late delivery ruined the party, leaving our daughter devastated as she couldn't celebrate with her friends.

Initially, we thought we had been scammed due to the no-show, so we raised a dispute with our credit card company. However, upon learning about the extremely late delivery, we reversed the dispute, despite the poor service.

The situation worsened when the store owner began harassing my wife. They charged an additional USD $20 for "administrative fees," which seems unjustified. Moreover, my wife has been receiving hate emails from the owner because the credit card company is taking time to settle the payment. The owner is now demanding that we pay for the cake twice, insisting on another CAD $146 payment.

It's important to note that this entire mess stems from Enticing Cakes' failure to deliver on time. Their customer service from hell has been abysmal, with the owner's behavior being completely unprofessional and unacceptable.

I cannot recommend Enticing Cakes to anyone. The late delivery, ruined celebration, unjustified fees, and harassment make this the worst customer service experience I've ever encountered. Potential customers should be aware of these issues before considering their services. Please read other reviews of other complaints and don’t be fooled.

Stay Away!
I wish I had read this reviews before.
I ordered a birthday cake for my daughter three weeks before her birthday. The cake was supposed to be delivered before 2pm. The cake arrived at 6pm after calling and chasing the staff. I panicked since this was supposed to be delivered to a boarding school and it was the first time my daughter was alone for her Bday and cancel the charge on my credit card. I had to call her and ruined the surprise, and ask for help from everyone since I am miles away. By 7pm I had already two emails on my inbox demanding that I reverse the charge immediately because the cake was delivered but very late. I reversed the charge and let them know and also enclosed the letter from my bank with the confirmation of the payment.
Joanne emailed me non stop all the week because they had not received the money back. By the way Joanne NEVER answer you back your emails NEVER. Ask me to call her I did, in the call she demanded that I speak again with my bank. I did, they confirmed the funds have been transferred to Square. I tell her and ask to wait.
Then out of nowhere she sends me an invoice for $20CAD plus the credit card fee as an administrative charge. I did not want to discuss and PAID again.
Three days later she keeps harassing me because her credit card company (Square) says they will return the funds in March. And demanded I send someone to pay for the $146CAD cake immediately. So she wants me to pay two times for the same cake, as the cake is already PAID and I have everything in writing.
This has been a nightmare, awful experience, how can you demand a client to pay two times for the same product. I tried to be patient and gracious but this is too much.
All I wanted was to surprise my daughter.
STAY AWAY

I’m the MOG that goes with the review posted by Patrick Bernier below. I feel I have to add my own review as I was disgusted with how this has been delt with.
My son and his now wife ordered their wedding cake earlier this winter, it was to be a simple three tier Black Forest cake with molded chocolate falling leaves, red berries and Scottish thistles cascading down the cake tiers, when they asked when the cake was to be picked up Joanne said they don’t allow pick up of cakes but instead they deliver them to ensure they arrive in perfect condition even taking extra measures by putting the cake in a secured container with a rod through the centre and then made pretty upon arrival all of this would cost $700, they paid a deposit and were given a copy of the order, final payment was made mid August.
Day of the wedding I noticed Patrick was on his phone at precisely 4pm when the wedding was about to start only to find out after the vows that he was talking to Joanne the owner of enticing cakes who informed them that the wedding cake had been destroyed when they hit a deer 5min away from the wedding venue. They said they would deliver a fake cake for pictures and slab cakes for serving. About an hour later they showed up with an iced fake cake then just after 6 they arrived with two slab cakes and one of the destroyed tiers which is now on display for all to see.
The slab cakes were chocolate cake with cherry pie filling ontop, the distroyed cake was Black Forest.
The plain chocolate cake and icing tasted like it had been frozen for some time but I tried a piece of the destroyed cake and it was fresh and delicious. If you calculate the time between 4pm and 6pm also noting the bakery is exactly 58min from the wedding venue there is no way those slab cakes were made from scratch. At no time did Joanne try to talk to the Bride or Groom nor myself or anyone in the wedding party to ensure they were satisfied with what they had done, it was drop and run. When Patrick sent an email on Monday expressing his dissatisfaction with the service and cake they received, there was no response. Both Patrick and his bride went to the bakery the following Saturday and were told Joanne would call them. Patrick received a call from Joanne finally on Tuesday where she said she stood by her contract and it cost her $1000 to call bakers in to bake the slab cakes and he wasn’t getting anything back.

Facts:
No contract was signed
If bakers were called in to bake the slabs why wasn’t the cake a Black Forest cake?
How did the bakers bake two slabs, cool them enough to ice and deliver in less than an hour? Impossible!
Just the fact that his efforts to reach out and discuss went ignored speaks volumes.

All in all they got a good gig going
Take a young couples $700
Ice a fake cake
Have a bunch of iced frozen slabs ready to go
Day of throw pie filling ontop and call it Black Forest
Come up with a good story and Bobs your uncle! An easy $700

They would have been further ahead to order two $25 Costco cakes

We understand shit happens but this couple did not get $700 worth of cake or service
If you guarantee safe arrival of your wedding cakes and you can’t then there should be some compensation.
They will be taking this to small claims court.

Seriously disappointed in choosing enticing cakes for my wedding in cameron 2 weeks ago. We paid $700 for a black forest cake and it was supposed to be delivered between 2-4. At 3:30 Jenn tries to reach out saying they had braked for a deer and the cake got dumped. I got the message and had called them at 4, just moments before going down the aisle. Jenn told me they had to whip together a few slab cakes and a model cake for photos. I wasnt in a place to argue soo i let them do their thing. About a half hour later they had the fake cake delivered. Roughly an hour after that they delivered 2 slab cakes and one of the damaged tiers to the cake. They came in at the very end of speeches and we cheered that they delivered the cakes but all they said to us was the deer and everyone was okay. They dropped off the cakes and left without talking to me, my bride or anyone in the wedding party about their disaster... to me they dropped off the cakes and ran. I was expecting a call back from Joanne the next day or later that week but that never happend. I emailed her, no response. We gave her the week and reached out the following saturday with a phonecall. I finally got a call back and Joanne said she had paid over $1000 to call in her crew to throw icing on 2 frozen chocolate slab cakes and redeliver the cakes in record time. The bakery is an hour away. Joanne didnt have anything to say about not following up or talking to anyone when delivering the cakes. As for dumping the cake. When we first arranged the cake at the beginning of the year my wife asked when we were supposed to pickup the cake and Joanne told us that because previous customers have spilled the cake on pickup and caused issues. She said that that they take precautions to help ensure delivery, we remember this conversation vividly because it was the first thing my wife and i went to when we first talked about the failed cake delivery.... Joanne denies saying this. When i told joanne that we didnt get $700 worth of cake or service she said that we signed a contract that states we have to share the consequences if anything were to fail. Soo she wasnt interested in honoring any kind of refund

My bride, my family and myself feel like her service was a ripoff. They didnt stand behind their mistakes. They slapped together a frozen emergency cake in record time on a crazy budget that was mushy and a big difference from the one damaged cake they had left. We wern't impressed they left a damaged cake for my guests to see. They didnt give me or my bride a chance to talk about the incident in the moment or the next day.

I hope other couples can find a more professional baker that can stand behind their work and treats a couples special day with more care. A wedding is a one shot event and enticing cakes could have taken more precaution during delivery and taken responsibility. It wasnt our mistake they left everything to the last minute and ran into an emergency against the clock. Thankyou for screwing up a cornerstone of our celebration, thankyou for the damaged cake for everyone to see, thankyou for dump and running on us, and thankyou for taking our $700 and hiding behind a contract. I hope other couples find a more reputable bakery and cost you over that $700 in lost business.

I hired enticing cakes to do my wedding cake and they absolutely nailed it! They went above and beyond what I had expected and couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome. I had so many compliments on the cake and how it looked, along with how delicious the cupcakes were. Thank you to the enticing cakes team, you absolutely killed it!

Cannot say enough positive things!! Our event was all the better with your fabulous cake. Thank for designing this beautiful cake especially with me unsure on design. This was a true baking experience so fresh and flavourful and artistically presented. Thank you so very much for your work and emails including the bounce back so I knew to call for a quick answer. Hugs and kisses

Recieved a very combative and unprofessional email from the location over a recent wedding. Not sure why they included me on the email thread, which was also unprofessional. Big yikes. Cake was super late for the wedding, had hairs and handprints on it. Definitely wouldn't recommend, based on the inappropriate tone of the combative email. Mistakes happen, especially in the service industry. Blaming clients is probably not the best route to take.

If there was a way to leave a zero star review, I will do this. This past weekend I was attending my best friends wedding. 3PM the cake was supposed to be delivered. After calling several times, leaving several messages the cake did not show up until 8:30 PM. The cake was stale, crusty, and tasted many weeks old.

For someone to have their wedding on the special day we expected communication. At first we thought we were scammed $1000 on a custom wedding cake. After leaving a Facebook comment on one of the recent videos only then did they decide to bring the cake to the wedding 5.5 HOURS LATER!

Stay away from Enticing Cakes unless you want to be scammed on your wedding day!

Five Stars is simply not enough for Enticing Cakes! The quality and beauty of their products is not paralleled. It is edible artistry frequently! I have ordered and loved: gingerbread houses, Black Forest, children’s cakes, gingerbread house kits, specialty cakes to celebrate milestone birthdays…these cakes become a gift in themselves.

From start to finish I couldn’t have asked for a better cake for my wedding! The concept was spot on with our vision and the flavours were unmatched. We make excuses to pick up cupcakes from Enticing cakes since they are so good each and every time. The team were easy to contact if I had questions and cake was delivered beyond expectations. Thank you for making our day perfect!

Amazing cakes. We bought a German dark chocolate, coconut and pecan cake for my wife's birthday. Not only did she decorate it in the shape of a lake for me but she was really creative added a lot to make it look the look. The cake was superb. The right balance of moisture and sweetness. I love when a cake is made tasty without just sugaring a lot. Shows a lot of talent.
