Fifties Good Time Cafe

This place is a gem! Amazing service and great atmosphere. Kid and adult friendly. Great food, tasty treats and a variety of tasty food. Thank you for always making my kids day.

A 4.6 rating? I don’t get it. I wanted to like this place, but it missed the mark for me. Food took forever to arrive. When it did come, the portions were small and tasteless — which sucks, even if size wasn’t my main issue.
The whole place looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while: dusty corners, peeling paint, things that looked worn.
Staff were super nice though — that’s the only thing I can say for sure was good.
No credit cards accepted, and they wouldn’t give me a receipt when I asked. That felt shady.

I’m not really sure why this place is rated so highly. It is cute, decorated in a 50s style diner albeit a little busy and I thought it was promising, but that’s where it ended. The food was not great, a “whistle dog” was literally a hot dog with a few bacon bits and shredded cheese on it, nothing else. The BLT was small, the fries average, and the Cesar salad bland and small. The worst part was this food with two cans of iced tea came to $45. Not to mention they only take cash, which you don’t find out until you go seek out paying your bill. There are much better places in Peterborough, clearly people don’t get out much. Highly disappointed given the Google ratings it has.

Been to this restaurant a few times now. It’s definitely my go to place when I come to Peterborough. Food is exceptional. Service is amazing. Such a sweet waitress serves me and she’s so polite. Always asking if I need anything. Coffee refills are non stop. They’re on their toes. Love this place.

This restaurant is an absolutely amazing little gem. The 50’s decor really brings you back in time. The service/waitresses were second to none! Very polite, prompt and accommodating to myself and my son with a disability. Food was delicious and great portions. Highly recommend when in Peterborough.

I enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. It's very clean and the food is excellent. The owners and staff of the place are kind, courteous, and made you feel at home. This will be my new regular spot to go to for now on.

When I first came here I was a bit shy on it. I thought it might be a smaller restaurant and maybe they weren't as personable.

The place was amazing, the owner and his wife constantly asked me if everything is ok and just sitting down to chat. It felt like a home more than a restaurant.

I would recommend this for anyone who wants a small town enviorment and to feel comfortable where you eat.

Had lunch for second time here and sadly it’ll probably be my last. Waitress was pretty rude.
We arrived at 125pm were served and at 2:02pm were basically thrown out as the waitress asked “do u mind settling up asap”. My friend had just gone to the WS and I was just waiting for him so we can pay our bill.
We were basically hurried out of the place .

**UPDATE**
The owner and his wife contacted my mother, asking why I was trying to attack them personally, when that was not the case I was stating my opinion so I definitely will not be attending this establishment anymore because of the unprofessional owners.
i’ve been attending this establishment for a very long time since I went to high school at Kenner and now it just looks very tacky. There’s way too much going on. I couldn’t even sit comfortably in my seat because anytime I put my head back. There was picture frames behind me and it was just uncomfortable, the one and only waitress. she saved the experience by offering very helpful suggestions that saved us a few dollars she was extremely friendly and welcoming. I probably won’t come back because it was a very long wait for the food. It just didn’t look appealing anymore and I’m meaning the decorating if they toned it down a bit it would be great. I understand they want to go with a 50s theme but just because it’s in the 50s doesn’t mean it goes with your attire either change everything or don’t change anything.

I didn’t like the menus they were really unprofessional. They looked like they were just scratched out with a sharpie written on them. See photo attached.

Great food and great service. Everyone there is so welcoming and friendly. Everything is homemade and fresh. Will definitely be coming back next time we are in the area. Highly recommend you stop by for a meal.

Had an amazing breakfast at the 50's Good Time Cafe! Food was excellent, service was amazing and friendly, and I really loved the style...such a cute, unique fun place! It was a great way to start my day, we will be back!

Great location with good food. Unfortunately, they only take cash and some of the booth areas are not built for bigger people to be comfortable at.
