This used to be one of my favourite places in Peterborough, but we were both sadly disappointed in our anniversary dinner.

I've ordered their pork medallions many times over the years but this time it was just...different. Not cooked as well, the meat wasn't as good of quality and the vegetables were served cold. The potatoes were good.

My partner's steak was not very good quality and had a strange gravy on it. Definitely NOT the lovely 'demi-glaze' it used to be.

Service was pleasant but slow (we were literally the only ones there) and incomplete (both missing meat cutting knives, for example).

Judging by other recent reviews I'm reading today, there is newer ownership, which explains it. Very sad, but we won't be returning.

Food was delicious. Table had wings, beet salad, club sandwich, and a kettle burger. Service was fantastic. Clean and great atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Has the ownership changed? This restaurant used to be better.

We ordered 2 beers and the staff took approx 5 mins to pour it, stirred it multiple times, and by the time it got to us both were warm and flat.

We asked to pay and after paying got up to leave after taking a few sips, waitress asked what was wrong and we explained. She did offer a refund at least.

Disappointed with the new ownership

I ate at Kettle Drums in Peterborough tonight with my partner and ordered the Angus steak with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables. I specifically asked for my meal to be gluten-free due to allergies, yet it was served smothered in gravy I didn’t order. The menu made no mention of gravy being included, nor that the Angus steak would resemble a rubbery, chewy Salisbury steak — especially disappointing at $32.

We’ve always enjoyed Kettle Drums in the past, but since the new owners took over, the quality and attention to detail have gone downhill. For reference, gravy is made with flour and therefore contains gluten. Please do better for guests with dietary restrictions. We won’t be returning.

What a shame… this used to be one of the best spots in Peterborough. After giving it multiple chances , I’m done giving it a “chance” again. Where do I begin. Very expensive for lack of portion sizes. $30.00 for a beet salad with chicken ??? Over $21.00 for fish and chips with not even homemade fish (Out of a box captain highliners) pieces were exactly identical in weight and looked the exact same as it was from a big factory . The burger was ok at best . And the fries …. They used to have the best hand cut fries in the city. They have now switched to bagged Sysco fries . Don’t change a good thing just to try and save a couple bucks. Over 100.00 , that unfortunately I will never get back . Sorry guys … this is a big fat 1 star for me .

The food was very good. I had the spicy chicken sandwich with beet salad (which was an upgrade of $3 instead of fries). The chicken was not overly spicy, just the right amount of kick, which I loved and the beet salad, which the server suggested, really was one of the best I've had. The server was very friendly and attentive. I dropped my knife mid-meal and figured I would just carry on without one but she showed up, without me having to ask, with clean utensils. I was there from 11:30am-1:00pm. There was no one else there when I arrived and only 2 other customers came before I left. I think that's a very slow lunch hour for a Friday. In spite of that, it took a half hour to get my food which I thought was a bit slow and perhaps the reason it was empty on a Friday lunch.

The food was well worth the wait if you aren't pressed for time.

Tuesday night Bobby our server was working alone and obviously busy. They should have had 2 servers on. Bobby was very friendly and you could see he was too busy and needed help. He was the best thing about dinner. The food was lack luster and mediocre. I don’t think we will be back. There was so much salt on the beef dip it was inedible. There was a small slice of brie on the grilled cheese and the rest of the bread was empty. The sandwich came advertised cheddar, Gouda and brie there was no cheddar or Gouda and the onion jam was a small spoonful in the middle the apple slices were minimal . The salad was nice fresh and the dressing was good. It was described as having cranberries but they were left off. If a food item is not available the customer should be told. You can not say it comes with something then not include it . The fries tasted like they came out of a bag cooked from frozen. I do not recommend eating here.

Service was excellent, we love that there is a parking lot out front, and outdoor dining options, place looks nice, but it’s the food. I don’t like to give a small business a bad review, but we’ve given it three tries. Mediocre is a good word to identify the food. Sorry kettle drums, there are better food choices in Peterborough.

Recently visited for a takeout order of fish & chips. Honestly the worst fish that I have ever had. They were basically glorified fish sticks that you could buy at any grocery store. The french fries were frozen from a bag and not freshly cut. I expected a lot more considering the price they charge.
I will certainly not be going back.
I did email them that day to let them know, but I never got a response back from them.

Four of us went to celebrate our daughters birthday on a Tuesday night. Our server, Bobby was great. Unfortunately he was the only server as well as bartender for at least 20 people. He somehow managed with good humour all evening. The food however was another matter. I can only guess that there was not enough kitchen staff either. We waited for food for longer than we should but frankly we weren't in a rush then everything came at once. Obviously we would have preferred the appetizers first. We wanted to have a cocktail and appetizers then dinner following. The pizza was undercooked as the cheese was not melted through and the same with one of the appetizers. We didn't complain because Bobby was clearly doing the best he could. I gave him a great tip but we won't be back anytime soon.

Went there with 4 other people lunch. The server recommended sitting on the front patio versus the back patio because of bees. We sat on the front patio for 15 minutes and no one came out to get our orders. Felt like we were forgotten about so we walked out and went down the street to one eighty where we had an amazing service.
