Amazing experience! Love this place. Is nice for special occasions or just if you want to try something new that other places in town don't have. In my experience, the plates I tried had perfect taste and were unique. Good presentation, and the restaurant is pretty. I love the lighting inside and the general atmosphere. The waitress is really friendly and attentive. I will definitely go back!

Good service, horrible food. There were 3 of us celebrating birthdays, we spent over $600 dollars and they couldn't even gift a slice of cake as a courtesy for the birthdays. And one was a 50 year old. This place will never see me again. One Fine Foods,Bar Vita, Railyard and the Ale House are a million times better. Stay away from Rare!!

Great food. Steak was delicious. Sweet courteous waitstaff. The atmosphere is very depressing. Dying potted plants. Horrific artwork. Cheesy tables and bad lighting. Owners should hire professional interior designers to lift the atmosphere and make this a place suitable for dining on the great food they prepare. Even though the food was so good, I would not come back because of the atmosphere.

After much build-up from friends, we decided to meet for dinner at Rare while in town. The outside is not much to rave about and could use some better signage, although it was winter and I have not seen it during nice weather. Once stepping inside, however, we were met by a lovely and inviting ambiance.
We were greeted promptly by several smiling faces and sat at a lovely table towards the rear of the dining room. Our server was courteous and knowledgeable, with just the right amount of attention for a few old friends wanting to catch up.
The appetizers were delicious, with the Caesar salad being one of the best I have ever had. The calamari is also a must try. For dinner, I had the duck confit, which unfortunately was overcooked and a little dry. The sauce and accompanying bed of lentils, beans and veggies were delicious. The rest of the party ordered prime rib, cooked to med rare, closer to rare if possible. This, too, came out overcooked at what would be more accurately labeled med well. This was odd since our reservation was for 5 pm, and there should not have been an issue with it being med rare at that time. Regardless, it was very flavourful. Perhaps this can be chalked up to a timing issue between service and kitchen staff. We all ate our meals and did not complain as we were on a bit of a time crunch to meet up with others elsewhere. Besides, overall, the dishes were very good.
I would definitely go back for another try. Be sure to make reservations and be aware that this is not an inexpensive night out.

We went for Valentine’s Day dinner and the food was absolutely amazing! The server was very attentive, very friendly. The Caesar drinks that we had were the best Caesars I’ve ever had. They were amazing. It was a limited menu, but the food offered was absolutely delicious. This restaurant is truly a diamond in the rough and I highly recommend it!
