Love this little hidden gem. You don't expect to find this kind of place in that location. It's beautiful in there, the staff are amazing. Friendly and attentive and enjoy some fun banter. Definitely recommend! I'll be back for another special occasion

We went to Rare for the very first time and it was our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We both ordered the Prime rib 3 course dinner. The Caesar salad was fine, the prime was thinly cut, almost no mashed potatoes and the Yorkshire pudding was burnt. I mentioned to the waitress that the Yorkshire pudding was over cooked and when she went to bring us our bill I asked her if she mentioned to the chef about the Yorkshire pudding and she said yes. I was very surprised the chef sent it out that way and didn't come out to offer congrats on our anniversary or to apologize for the burnt Yorkshire. I saw somebody else who had the Yorkshire and there was over half of it left. I won't be going back and would never recommend this place.

Followed our friends' advice and ordered the burger - delicious!! And the soup of the day - a creamy cauliflower and parsnip soup was sublime! Definitely coming here again!

Chef Andrew clearly takes great pride in his work, ensuring that each dish exceeds expectations through careful preparation and great value. This is a comfortable and friendly place to enjoy a truly five star meal. I would happily return and highly recommend it to others.

We went to celebrate our son's 21st birthday. Overall the meal was outstanding. We had a few shareable appetizers including pan bread, charcuterie and bone marrow. Entrees included the salmon, pork loin, Cornish hen and the day's special - a porterhouse for 2. All dishes were excellent - the type of flavors and presentation that you expect from a high-end restaurant. The ambiance was nice and the service was also very good - not over the top, just right. The price was not cheap ($100+ per person including wine) and there was nothing free for the birthday but if you are looking for some fine dining in Peterborough (which is hard to find), this is definitely a place to try.

An intimate and comforting experience. One of the warmest establishments I visited to eat while in Peterborough for work. The menu is intentional, thoughtful, and confident. My waitress was lovely, attentive, so kind, efficient, and made me one of the loveliest lavender gin martinis I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.

We had a lovely evening at rare, the server Eve was very nice and helpful. The food was phenomenal. We had the porterhouse steak which was so tender and flavourful as well as the bone marrow appetizer, which was delicious. We enjoyed all four desserts. We couldn’t pick our favourite one, the cocktails were lovely and so was the wine. would highly recommend this place again and again.

Wow. What a fantastic meal served during a snow storm. It was worth the drive to be treated so well. Excellent cocktails. Fabulous appetizers and steaks cooked to perfection. They even cooked duck confit for me. There is no better restaurant in Peterborough. We can't wait to return
