I believe that the Silver Bean Cafe at the Canoe Museum is the finest coffee shop in Peterborough. The coffee is good, there is ample indoor and outdoor seating and the location and ambiance are wonderful. Please let me know if you disagree.

Their baked goods taste like they are local made and their sweetness level was perfect. This space may be seasonal. Their service areas are partially open to the air. They serve Kawartha Dairy Icecream. Once they run out of stuff, it is gone. Very nice location on the river. This would make a great small event location. Not sure if there are washroom facilities, but they had hook ups for electrical services. They have a nice outdoor patio, with one part of the area with a permanent high roof. You order at counter and bring ready made orders outside. No garbage cans and they use reusable coffee mugs and no plastic disposable cutlery for ice cream.

Good lunch menu. Nice staff, good service with a great waterfront view. My only complaint is there were a lot of homeless people hanging around the business (not their fault)

Waited over 20min for a milkshake and a cookie.
Cookie was rock solid like eating cement and the milk shake was 99% milk with a drop of ice cream. This isn't the first time either idk what happened to this place but the kicker is the numerous times I've had this experience going there they haven't even been super busy, maybe like 3 or other people waiting infront of me...also waiting for a scoop of ice cream or a milkshake.
I've been going here since I was 4 years old with my mum but safe to say I won't be going back.

Such a cute cafe! Even though it was raining, the outdoor seating and view of the lake was so calming. Staff were nice, and quick with service. I got their ham and old chedder sandwich and it was good! Really filling. Would recommend for anyone who's taking a stroll around town.
Parking: You have to park on a street and walk to the cafe.
Wheelchair accessibility: It's wheelchair accessible, no stairs or steep hills. Super easy to pull up to a table. Might be a bit small inside where you order, but other than that you should be good.

It's a lovely atmospheric place: river, large park, delicious food. I was a vendor who displayed my jewelry. However, I also bought food such as hot sandwiches, sweets, and coffee. This place is very popular, judging by the number of people who come here during the day. I will visit this cafe again in a few days.

We stopped in on Saturday afternoon to grab a hot drink and a snack with a group of friends visiting for the weekend. We waited patiently in line as other groups went in and when it was finally our turn everyone was so excited to come in and pick their treats. We were a larger group, but one group that was paying together. As soon as we came in, the lady behind the counter yelled at us “there are way too many of you, you have to leave now”. When i say yelled, I mean in a loud and angry voice. We were shocked, and then flustered and half of our group went outside to wait awkwardly even though we were all going to be paying on one tab. While i appreciate the space is small, nowhere did i see a limit on the number in a party that we were violating. The kitchen was closed for food, so the only way for our party to select baked treats was to come inside. After paying for our drinks, the only topic of conversation was how we were spoken to and it was so embarrassing and upsetting that we decided to support a local spot and were treated to the attitude of the staff. Had we been told that there was a certain number of guests allowed in at once, we were 5 adults and 5 kids in our party, the entire situation could have ended in a much happier tone. I can’t imagine a situation where we will be returning, and it’s so disappointing as we love your location by the water and all your tasty delights.
