🔴🚷 ATTENTION & STAY ALERT ❌🔴

I had an extremely disappointing and anweful experience at Govardhan Thal in Pickering. The overall hygiene of the restaurant was very concerning. While dining, I noticed a cockroach roaming around inside the food , which was honestly shocking and completely unacceptable for any restaurant.

I travelled from North York to Pickering just to eat such an unhealthy and stale food. I took unlimited food in which 90% of the things were stale not freshly made.
Gulabjamuns - were hard and raw ❌
Curry - was watery❌
Sabji - looked like made long ago ❌

Because of this experience, I felt very uncomfortable continuing my meal. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves their cleanliness and pest control measures. Until then, I would not recommend this place based on my experience.

This is my go to place whenever I miss ghar ka khana. This place serves the best dhoklas. I always buy a thali and it always satisfies my taste buds. The food is very tasty and the rotis are super soft. Highly recommend!

This is my second visit. Amazing customer service. Especially, Jignaben is so friendly and very caring while serving a food. She gives a feeling like a mom in foreign country. Must visit this place.

I'm an absolute vegetarian guy. Govardhan thal is a 100% vegetarian restaurant run by a gujrati lady. It is an extremely satisfactory find for me. They have a buffet, a take out thali and other indian snacks.

I always choose take out thali, it is very reasonably priced for 10$ and gets me 4 fresh hot chapatis with ghee, option to choose two hot sabzi from four options, option for plain rice or pulao rice and one option to choose from three dal/currys including gujrati speciality. Also , there's an option to choose from sweets in the end. My favorite is hot gulab jamuns.

Overall really really satisfied, thank you so much for providing such good vegetarian food and letting eat the takeout at restaurant while food is hot. Must visit if you crave for homely food. May god bless aunty ji. Thanks 👍

Really disappointing experience at Govardhan Thal Pickering. The food lacked flavor, prices were high and not worth it. They asked us to pay first, but the food and service were slow. It took too long for rotis and theplas. The Oshawa location was much better. We paid after eating and the food there was excellent and the staff was friendly too.

Worst service. We called and ordered 12 rotis. We waited for 40mins to get half of the order. This is not 1st time. Will never come back.

We’ve been loyal customers, but our New Year’s visit was disappointing. We were charged $17.70 (weekend price)for the weekday buffet instead of $15.99, at the billing counter after dinner was done and with no notice that prices were higher due to the festival. A few curries tasted stale, and the appetizers were hard and dry as well clearly they were stale.

There were no special items or additions to justify the higher price either. It felt unfair to be charged extra just because of an Indian festival, especially without informing customers in advance.

Their customer service was great no doubt, but Not sure if we’ll be visiting them again.

Scores high on food and menu items, but very low on ambiance and cleanliness. Dirty floors, unappealing walk leading to the washrooms, entrance is unappealing.
We've to think twice before we bring any family visitors here as it is certainly Not a well-maintained place. The look and feel greatly needs a lift up.
They do not accept credit cards, only debit and cash.

Had the best birthday celebration ever at Govardhan Thal! From the moment we walked in, the staff was so warm, friendly, and super helpful. They really made us feel at home.

The food? Absolutely amazing! Fresh, flavorful, and totally authentic—just like a home-cooked Gujarati meal. Every dish was a treat!

The whole vibe was just perfect—great food, great service, and the nicest people. Can’t recommend this place enough! If you haven’t been here yet, you’re missing out!

Best restaurant with gujrati thali. All you can eat buffet. Including snacks and sweets such as gulab jaman. All included in buffet. Like home made food.

Amazing service, delicious food. Very homely vibes, hot rotis, theplas, bajra roti n puris, puran poli as well. Hard to find such different variety at restaurants.
Most of the restauranys serve the regular menu - paneer, dal makhani and malai kofta, but Govardhan serves a different menu. Worth a try.
