Halibut House Fish & Chips Pickering

I used to be unimpressed due to the hours of service but after complying within their business hours I must say I was completely wrong!

The customer service is completely outstanding! Sandra has been nothing but kind and courteous and has a complete heart of gold. In addition, Sophie has an energetic attitude that makes the customer feel at home.

Thank you guys so much for changing my mind.

To the owner of the store, you have found yourself a loyal customer. Please give them a raise for their excellent customer service!

I’ve visited many Halibut Houses This one in Pickering is by far the best in the Cain that I have been to Excellent Quality larger portions And the Service by Sandra was well second to none Truly a gem in the Halibut House chain

Honestly, food wasn't bad. The fish was great. I think easing off watering things down like vinegar, tartar sauce, and even the ceasar salad dressing was watered down. Kinda ruined it for me....

So on my family's first visit to Halibut House, we were left extremely disappointed. We went on National Fish and Chips day, and it took 20 minutes for the waitress to come and greet us and get our drink orders. We went around 12, and it was not busy considering the day.
After thay, she took our orders (we all ordered the halibut). What really bothered me was that people who came in after us, got their lunch first. We were left waiting. Another waitress that served our neighbours, checked in on us and asked us if we had ordered. I replied that we ordered before them, so she kindly said she would follow up. Whereas our waitress, did not check in on us at all. She completely forgot about us.
Within a few minutes, the other waitress that served our neighbours, said it would be out shortly. Within 10 minutes, the same waitress came out with our food, and apologized 3 times for the mistake. It was not her fault, yet she apologized on her coworkers behalf.
The fish was flakey, but flavourless. I could have made a better dish at home. The best part was the fries.
Honestly, as a family of 4, we buy the best food and ingredients and make amazing meals at home. We go out to eat once in a while, but I feel even that is generous. In the end, restaurants end up making you feel sorry you even went. The food is overpriced, the restaurants are over-hyped, and the service is just lacking.

Ordered a take-out Halibut dinner with chips on Tuesday and the fish was obviously cooked the day before – stale and almost inedible. Fries were cooked nicely but paid almost $20 for a dinner that I couldn't eat!! Usually the food at other Halibut House Fish & Chips locations is great but this one needs a new chef.

This is the best fish and chip restaurant ive ever been to. The fish and fries are so so good and so clean looking, you can tell they use very clean oil. Nothing is ever greasy as well, unlike many fish places. Look in the photo how clean the oil must be to have such clean looking fish and chips

I've been a patron to this location since it opened, and if a plate of quality fish and chips is your fancy, you won't be disappointed. Coleslaw rocks, stay with the haddock or halibut and the fries are always fresh. 5 star because they usually hit every point, sometimes it's a little cold in the dinning room but meh, food first! Owners and staff are always smiling, not sure what else is needed to create a great experience. 😁👍

Thin slice of Halibut with tons of batter. I won’t be going here anymore. Felt really ripped off! It’s like they took a regular sized halibut steak sliced it in half and double dipped it in the batter.

The food is ok. The portion was not as big as I expected for the price. I’ve had better fish n chips.

I got here quite often for fish and chips. They have a decent sitting area, their fish and chips are good, the people are nice. THere isn’t much to complain about it in my opinion.
