We tried this place first time and unfortunately had an awful experience. As soon as we sat down, there was weird smell in the dining areas, the menu was very small and the food wasn't enjoyable. My kids' salmon avocado rolls had so much rice and tiny salmon/avocados in it. When kids can tell it was different from what they normally get for Salmon avocado rolls, it says something. My sushi set had very thick rice with thin sashimi, chopped tuna was super dry, and the salmon had something on it (shared the picture). My husband said the beef steak was ok.
From other reviews, it seems that they are more popular with the takeout lunch rice balls. We won't go back again. :(

Dated and dusty dining area. Tuna sushi was fishy tasting. Rolls were sloppily put together with cold rice. Everything except the service was just underwhelming.

Peaceful sitting for lunch. Chef was kind and responsive. The chicken teriyaki lunch special was a nice balance and delicious. The miso soup was flavorful and soothing. I'd recommend this place for fine Japanese food.

The soft shell crab roll was really nice! It was delicious and well-prepared. However, it would be great if the owner treated their staff and customers more kindly, as it can impact the overall dining experience.

I have been meaning to try this place for years, due to a friend telling me about it. The food is quality, and you can see the care in the presentation. To eat the fresh onigiri for lunch is very delightful, soft rice pillow of savoury. The popular one is the beef sukiyaki, but I was very delighted by the salmon one. Friday and Saturday get very busy, so advise planning ahead and ordering ahead for take out. Perfect for quiet lunch.

Got a party tray, the rolls were extremely small, avocado was green and sour and rice was old. Definitely not worth the price

Hidden gem and a must visit! The chef is from Japan. They serve authentic Japanese cuisine here. The food is very delicious and properly done. Don't judge the interior as it is a tab bit outdated, BUT it's the food that's a home run/slam dunk. It's worth the visit for a taste of real Japanese flavours! AYCE places won't give you the authentic flavours that this place delivers day in and day out.
Pleasantly surprised with finding this place so close to home. Such a blessing to find and experience the natural authenticity of the dishes. Looking forward to making this a go to staple
The onigiri are incredible, beautifully hand made, fresh to order. Chef Nobu is so friendly, he makes you feel welcomed, and it is immediately obvious that he takes pride in the food he serves. Lovely tucked away spot, try it out if you haven’t already!
Excellent food and very good service. Their omekase sushi set must try

Very disappointed. I tried this spot for the first time and my only request was “no wassabi, just ginger” as I ordered.
Each piece of sushi had wasabi on the inside. The sushi was fresh and what I did eat tasted nice, I just wish they would have listened or advise it wasn't possible as I cannot eat the wassabi for health reasons. The sushi went to waste. The miso soup was good but a little salty.
Had a wonderful omakase dinner on Christmas Eve prepared by chef Nobu Yamada! Fresh & delicious, highly recommend for authentic and quality Japanese food.
Food was delicious, service was great. Best miso soup I’ve had. Definitely recommend going here for a bite
Best Japanese Food in Pickering!
I really really recommend checking out their onigiri when you have the chance! They're fresh to order and huge! ~$5/pp and an average person would be satisfied. Of course we had to try them *all* though. My absolute favorite is the beef sukiyaki! Can't wait to come back for a sit in meal one time! They're ingredients are super fresh!
Vegetarian options: They had vegetarian and vegan onigiri too.
Parking: Lots of parking.
