Great food, love the menu and it's always cooked just right. Patio view is very nice. Servers are outstanding. Greeters/hosts and reception aren't the best - disorganized and slow.

Waited for over 30 mins just to get a drink. Our appetizers came before drinks. Weâre not given any serviettes and we had brochette which was okay but messy. Thank god we didnât order more or we would still be there for hours. Place was half full, at that, and only one bartender working. Management of staff is poor to say the least. They charge more than itâs worth, so you think you could employ more staff so your wait times are not ridiculous. My first and last time there.

The service started off a bit disappointing as our server wasnât very attentive at first thatâs okay, though; not everyone has a good day. The oysters were quite small, and we werenât given a proper utensil to top them, so we had to use our mains forks. When the burger arrived, it was pink in the middle, and we hadnât been informed that it would be served that way. Once we mentioned it, the server became much more attentive and kind, which we appreciated. Overall, the experience was mid, nothing terrible, but nothing special either. Go in the summer to enjoy the patio, nothing else.

Mixed Experience at The Port in Pickering
Rating: 3.5/5
We recently dined at The Port in Pickering, and while it was a pleasant evening, our experience was a bit mixed. When we made reservations, we were given a tight window, but upon arrival, the restaurant had plenty of space.
The ambiance and views from the outdoor patio overlooking the water were great, but one downside was the presence of some unwanted guests - flies and fruit flies managed to sneak into the restaurant and buzz around our table during dinner, which was a bit annoying.
The drinks were enjoyable, and the New York strip loin steak I ordered was cooked well, with fresh sides. However, my wife's fish was a letdown - it was overpowered by the broth, and the price point seemed steep for the portion and quality.
The starter salad appetizer was tasty, and we enjoyed sharing a creme brulee for dessert. One thing that took away from our experience was the inconsistent service - we had six different servers throughout the evening, which made it hard to build a rapport with any one person.
Overall, I'd recommend The Port, but with some caveats. The quality and value of the dishes can vary, and the service could be more consistent. Given the patio's proximity to the water, maybe they could work on keeping the bugs at bay. Despite these issues, it's worth trying if you're looking for a nice dinner with a view, but it might not become a regular go-to spot.

The restaurant benefits from a great view and prime location, but the food left much to be desired. The pasta sauce tasted like it came from a frozen packet, and the seafood dish didnât meet the standard youâd expect from a place like this. Even the kidsâ sorbet resembled a melted lolly more than actual ice cream. Overall, the experience didnât live up to the hype.
