The best sushi in the Durham Region! The ingredients are always fresh and the prices are amazing for the quality you get. This has always been my go-to sushi spot in Pickering, for the last 10+ years.

The staff is incredibly warm and consistently provides exceptional service.

We will truly miss Yuna and the entire incredible team. 💕

Sakura Sushi in Pickering is widely praised as a hidden gem offering high-quality, fresh ingredients that distinguish it from local all-you-can-eat venues. Customers consistently highlight the excellent, attentive service and generous portion sizes.
Key Takeaways:
Exceptional Quality: The sushi and sashimi are fresh and meticulously prepared, making it a go-to for serious sushi enthusiasts in the Durham region.
Must-Try Dishes: Don't miss the Spicy Salmon Roll, the signature Sakura Roll, or the highly recommended Kimchi Fried Rice.
Service Note: While the food and staff are fantastic, the dine-in experience sometimes includes an unusual counter-ordering and payment process.
Overall: Highly recommended if you prioritize superior freshness and quality over quantity.

Lovely little place. I ordered green dragon roll and avocado cucumber. Both rolled really beautifully and tasty, along with beef gyoza also delicious.

Easily the best take-out sushi in Durham. We usually get house special makis and platters. So worth itttt.

My first time trying Sakura Sushi and it has to be one of the best sushi restaurants that I've had. Small family run restaurant that is worth checking out and I for one will be heading back.

Stuck in COVID times?!?! It was the strangest DINE IN experience ever being served piping hot udon soup in a plastic takeout bowl with plastic cutlery, and the smallest bento meal in a plastic divided tray. For a person who is very concerned with avoiding toxins, eating hot soup out of a plastic bowl is concerning!!!

The only actual real dishes were the melamine shaped dishes to hold the soy and wasabi. To be fair, there were signs that stated you have to bring your dishes to the back when finished but we did not imagine we would get a food court experience.

My udon soup was super bland and flavourless however the only saving grace were the chewy udon noodles; they weren’t overcooked. The beef in the soup was bland so I only ate one bite and gave the rest to my husband. The spicy maki rolls were just okay. However I did hear a loyal takeout customer say “I love your food!” To each his own—having recently come back from Tokyo, this was not the case for us sadly.

In all fairness, the staff are very friendly and respectful. A nice young man did bring the food to our tables but that was it.

We noticed there were many locals picking up takeout so we’re glad they can keep their business afloat with takeout but there is much room for improvement for the dine in experience. Please readjust your dine in practices to post COVID times by tweaking the flavour and serving size portions of your entrees. We wish your business well.

The sushi was fresh and nicely prepared. I really enjoyed the salmon and tuna rolls. Just a little expensive for the portion size, but still worth it.

Small portions. Miso soup was very salty and tempura was very thick and not crisp. Sushin was good.
