I visited the Sunset Grill in Pickering yesterday morning and the experience was very disappointing. The food quality was extremely poor. The pancakes were burnt and so tough they could not even be cut. The milk packets for the coffee had things floating in them after mixing, which was concerning and showed a lack of quality control.
Our server could have been more attentive, and another staff member was rude toward us and showed clear attitude. This made the visit uncomfortable and pointed to a serious drop in customer service compared to previous years.
The prices were also far too high. We spent almost 200 dollars for six adults and two children, and the meal was not worth the cost at all.
Based on this visit, I would not recommend the Pickering Sunset Grill. There are much better places nearby with better food, better service, and better value for your money.

I’ve always ordered from this location because my son loves the Eggs Sunset. Today, we were both home sick and decided to treat ourselves to brunch from here. We drove over to pick up our order, came home excited to eat, but after our first bite, we immediately knew something was off. The sauce was spoiled.
We got back in the car and returned both orders. When I arrived, the cashier practically avoided me (I had called ahead to let them know we were coming). Although I was refunded, the owner or manager who handled it didn’t apologize or offer any acknowledgment. I wasn’t looking for anything free, just a simple apology and accountability for serving spoiled food.
It was a disappointing experience and a terrible way to handle the situation. We’ve been loyal customers for years, but after this, we won’t be returning.
Place is a good stop for breakfast/brunch. On a busy time theres not enough staff doing service, and it can be very slow. It took almost 20 minutes to refill my coffee. Food is good. Ive had the 3 eggs and bacon - quite standard and good however they truly didnt toast the bread at all and it had way too much butter and potatoes should be cooked longer as noted in other comments.
Monte Cristo was good! Plate was way too small, however.
Overall, should be aware of cook times for potatoes and toast (really). Service should be faster, but I will back

Try the Mexican Omelet. Sooooo good. Staff were very friendly. Went around 10 am. Mom had the Monte Cristo. She really enjoyed it. Thanks for the great service and the wonderful creative food.
