Please do not support this business! This restaurant is owned by a local billionaire, Alan Gao - Tenkey, that has invested billions in new local developments and even sponsors galas for the Mayors of Pickering. YET, the owners hire young staff to 12+ work at their restaurant with no breaks, constant negative pressure, made to work in uncomfortable situations and outright refuses to pay their staff full wages of hours worked. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS! As far as I’m concerned, this restaurant should be shut down. Also, the food is awful and since they are constantly short staffed, you can expect to wait hours for any service.

Do not eat here. If anyone knows a health or safety inspector get them to prioritize looking into this place.

Felt like eating air. The portions were extremely small and tasted like nothing. I'd rather eat a cheap Mr. Noodle than go back there.

How you can screw up a restaurant in the best location is mind boggling. Save your money and seek out another restaurant.

Horrible owner’s & management. I worked here for 5 full months full time to save up some extra money before I went off to college. When I had to leave for school I was not paid for my last 2 weeks of full time work & was ignored by both the managers and the owners. I attempted to reach out to all of them multiple times and was ignored. I went into the bar to speak with the manager Joe in person and told him how much I needed this money and he told me “It’s a tough world” and laughed at me and said he was too busy to talk and to email him. I then found out there was multiple other young workers and teens like myself that he has done the same thing with in the past. The response I got from Joe and the fact that the owner’s read but ignored all my emails is disgusting. I don’t think anyone should support this bar. But my intention isn’t to scare people away from coming here to eat, it’s to warn any young kids or workers that are considering getting a job here. They treated me like garbage here and would constantly talk down to me and criticize the way I walked and spoke to customers. Then they’d always laugh it off as if it’s nothing. I loved some of my co-workers but I hated how I was treated by the owner’s, management and how they knowingly ripped off a young kid on his way to college that was just trying to earn some extra money.

Completely not acceptable not paying your staff!

Health inspectors need to check this place out soon as possible. This place is a nightmare for anyone looking to go out to eat. They also don’t pay their staff. They fire and hire new people from what i heard from their staff. This place should close down soon as possible. They take advantage of people. Stay away!!!!

I’m giving this restaurant a 1- the reason is that there owners are taking advantage of their employees but holding back 2 weeks pay.. these young people work hard and don’t deserve to be treated this way.. I say if they worked - pay them and stop coming up with excuses as to why they aren’t being paid..Until the owners change their attitude- I won’t be coming back to this restaurant, and neither will my friends. Thank you

Please DO NOT visit THE SAILING BAR AND RESTAURANT on 590 Liverpool rd. Pickering L1W 1P9 with owner Allen and manager Joe (it was impossible to find last names) . My daughter worked there very diligently for the whole summer trying to make some extra money to help with high university fees and at the end they failed to pay the last 2 weeks of employment. After numerous attempts to make them pay her back the hard earned money, they were completely ignorant and quoting the most ridiculous excuses. Apparently they are notorious for not paying their young staff. Please do not support this shady THE SAILING BAR AND RESTAURANT!

Seated for lunch upstairs by host who just said "seat yourselves." No one greeted us or even gave us menus. Left after waiting 15 minutes. I'm sure the food is fine, but didn't get to try it. Maybe next time!

The servers here are amazing however the owner is TRASH! If you are thinking of going here I would reconsider, especially if you dont want to get sick. I was told by one of the servers that they have not been paid in a MONTH!!!! How can this be allowed??? The food here is mediocre and the place is very dirty! Raccoons and foxes on the patio. The owner, Allen, needs to be put in his place. You can not treat your employees like this and you need to pay them! I hope that all these kind servers working here get a better job.

WORST RESTAURANT IN PICKERING!!!!Any ‘review with more then 2 stars’ is not a typical experience.. I’ve lived here for a while now and THIS RESTAURANT has been mentioned several times to AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Sure the location and views are great but the customer service and the lack of a menu (no experienced chef) is beyond ridiculous and frustrating. Many people have complained about the food being served cold, uncooked and the prices are so ridiculously expensive. Better to make yourself a sandwich and enjoy the beach. Anyways here’s my friends experience;Tonight I had quite possibly the worst restaurant experience of my life, so I wanted to share the details. It's my sister's birthday & 5 of us went to "The Sailing Restaurant" at the foot of Liverpool down by the lake. When we arrived, the parking lot had a large sign that read "parking for marina, or yacht (or something like that) only". 3 of us in my car thought it was strange that the restaurant patrons couldn't park there. That being said - we parked across the road in the public lot. We downloaded the QR Code & followed the instructions as best as we could (it kept timing out). There was another guy there who had "given up"... he was waiting to see if we could figure it out. We did manage to successfully pay for the parking (or so we thought)... so we helped the guy who was struggling with it, then we headed to The Sailing Club for dinner. When we walked inside, it was clear that the A/C wasn't working (even though they said it was). We requested to eat on the patio overlooking the water, but they said they had no servers working there. We were the only people in the entire restaurant at that time, so the servers weren't working anywhere yet. We chose to leave (due to the lack of A/C), so they then allowed us on the patio. Their beer list was quite extensive, but they didn't have anything we asked for (& we asked for various different types on their menu). I settled for a Caesar. Then we ordered our dinner. There were 3 different pizza choices on their menu, but none were available. They also didn't have fish & chips which was on their menu too. I eventually ordered a burger & fries. When the burger arrived, I asked for mustard. They had none. I couldn't believe it. They serve burgers but have no mustard. The only condiment available for my burger was ketchup. Had I have known that, I wouldn't have ordered a burger (but I was running out of options). The fries were cold too. It was awful... but the worst part was yet to come. When we got back to my car, I had a $75 parking ticket on the windshield. At this point I have no idea if we screwed up, or if the person ticketing the cars screwed up. I hope the guy we helped out earlier fared better than us.Oh.. & when we drove out, the sign at The Sailing Club then said "Parking for Sailing Club Restaurant". It most definitely did not have that same sign when we arrived earlier.I don't think I'll be heading back down to the waterfront anytime soon, & I will NEVER be eating at that restaurant again.
