I dropped by Country Sunshine health store to pick up digestive bitters and they had exactly what I needed. The store is small but mighty. They carry a large variety of herbs, tinctures and other holistic medicine. The staff member I spoke to was super friendly and I'd highly recommend going here despite what the other reviewers say. Full disclosure: COVID was a hard time for everyone and those reviews the store got seemed biased based on ego and judgement. From my experience today (Nov 2, 2024), the store environment was positive and I'm giving them 5-Stars. Hope that the other past-patrons that felt disgruntled will give Country Sunshine another opportunity to earn back your trust.

I wish someone would open another health food store and give this woman some competition. I honestly cannot get over how rude this owner is to customers. I had not been in years as I really try not to support such rudeness. She did not come out from the back just asked from a distance what I was looking for and said she did not have it...... THE END. No pleasantries, no thank you, no interaction, no can I recommend something else. You get my drift. These people that say she is so nice is mind boggling to me as each interaction with her is the same and other friends have agreed. As far as the mask poster goes do we expect anything less vulgar and who wrote it.......looks like a poster from the 2nd grade.

Absolutely love this store! Staff are always helpful and kind, prices are amazing and they have a great selection!
We've been shopping here for over fifteen years. To the person who said prices are too low to be organic, i'll point out the owner & her family have their own organic-certified farm. I don't think i've ever seen anyone complaining about low prices before.
As for high prices, if you shop around you might find some items cheaper elsewhere, but then you've had to go elsewhere. And yes, the owner has a personality, but which of us doesn't? :D But she'll order products in specially for people, and you know, if you don't have the common courtesy to wear a mask, i don't want you near me either. I have no problems with a Masks Required sign.
It's great that a town the size of Picton has three stores serving the needs of people with organic/health/bulk foods, and they each have their own strengths (Taste Your World and Penny's Pantry being the other two). It's also great to find a store where you can ask the staff their opinions or recommendations on the products, and they know about them. All three of these stores are such places.

The owner has supported our local bird observatory over the past 10 years by selling our shade grown coffee. The owner takes no profit and gives us the full cost, which goes directly to migration research. Shopping at County Sunshine is always a pleasure. Great prices and a wide variety of products that are often hard to find in a small community.

I’m so sad to say I also must give this store a low rating. I used to go pretty frequently, as it was the only place around to get many of the items we use regularly. The selection is good, points for that, but the service is horrible. The prices on some things are also suspiciously good - I’ve often wondered how I could be getting an organic bulk item x, y, or z at such a price, and wondered if it really was organic as labeled. The vibe of the owner didn’t give me that wholesome health food loving feeling of trust that would normally dispel such suspicions. I have had a couple of negative interactions with her over issues with their credit card machine not working, and she was quite rude and unhelpful despite it being their issue. During the lockdown I only made it over there a few times early on - before masks were mandated everywhere. I wore one as requested and didn’t have any too-bad experience around it. It’s probably been over a year since I’ve been down there, and I was getting ready to go there today when I opened up Google to check the business hours before going since it’s a bit of a drive for us. That when I see the horrible star rating and think WOW finally people started acknowledging that this place is kinda questionable and rude!! I wasn’t at all expecting to see the images of the horribly unacceptable mask sign in the door. But the sentiment there didn’t surprise me it all. Just solidified and validated all the weird feelings I’d had over the years going there that these weren’t maybe such good or nice people. It’s such a shame because I really value being able to buy those products - it has left me with major gaps in my pantry, not going there. But I won’t be making the trip today unfortunately. Not interested in supporting anyone that feels entitled to be so crass and nasty to people with different needs or opinions. I respect and support their right to set their own rules around their comfort level for people coming into their store - it’s their store after all. I don’t agree with their opinion at all, but it’s their right to have it. But it is NOT okay to display it with such contempt and vitriol packed into the messaging. You can politely and respectfully set your boundaries, which would have kept me as a customer. But this is quite too much. Sorry to say I won’t be going there :(
