After going for a freezing October swim, my ravenous boyfriend and I were struggling to find dinner, after three misses we ended up at The Barley. Steak sandwich , burger with an extra patty, sweet potato fries and 2 pints of cider went down easy, classic pub grub elevated. our server was incredibly nice, and checked in often. There was live music and great Halloween decorations all over the place. Thank you guys for the amazing night

We visited in the off season and it felt like they were short staffed. It took forever to get our food and bill.

What a great place to enjoy cocktails, dinner and live music! You are welcomed the minute you walk in! We visit Prince Edward County every year and we will definitely make this a regular stop! Our waiter, Michael made our evening even more memorable!
Good food, nice ales and friendly service in a setting that feels like a small town British pub.

Went here with a party of 4 , around 5 pm on Saturday last weekend . Ordered an app for the table , and roughly the same time for our main meals . The app came out fairly quickly , but the main dinner was almost 90 mins later.
When the meals finally came out , the waiter , was like omg , we totally forgot to put one of the meals in . So we will get that going now . Another meal , which was the loaded crazy fries , it tasted as bad as it looked.
You think the manager would have came over to smooth out the situation , or offer anything to make things right . But nope . Can’t see our group going back here again ! Well better experiences at other pubs in Picton

Stopped in for a relaxing beverage and appetizer on a quiet Sunday afternoon. My Cracked Canoe daughter was cold and crisp, while my wife's Pinot Grigio was also enjoyed. We shared an appetizer, a spinach dip, which was very good. Topped with melted cheese, it hit the spot with plenty of small Naan pieces with celery and carrots on the side. Service was good. Atmosphere was awesome. Interior was decorated with timely artifacts and a huge selection of their Scotch and brandies. Well priced menu. We recommend and we'll be back.

Restaurantji Recommends
We recently did Countylicious at the Waring House. The meal was terrible. The food was bland which is surprising because there is a cooking school on the premises. The dining room is like going back into the 70’s. The staff try very hard to please you but they are really not polished enough. Would not recommend this restaurant.
Went there with another couple ,repaying a favour. We got there at 3.15 pm without reservation, and found it hard to navigate to the spot we were looking for,non the less we found it. Entered a small entrance into what we thought was a lobby ,but it was the pub area, kinda tiny. After waiting a bit we were led into a narrower room that was more dining area. Decorating for Halloween was very unique,The waitress ( 1 of 2)..was very good, explained the menu, took a drink order and returned quickly, took the order by rote, obviously has the menu down pat, meal was served in a timely fashion, and no complaints. After finishing the 1st waitress finished her shift,,and said the takeover person would be at the table shortly, that didn’t happen, and thus the table was neglected by leaving the unclean plates on the table for quite some time.
Nice cosy at home atmosphere. Love Candace!!

We had dinner at the Barley Room last week while visiting the County with my brother and sister in law from the UK. We got the last free table and wondered how the service would be with the pub being so busy. We needn't have worried. Our server was super efficient and very friendly (she was from Newfoundland) and the food was great. Altogether a good experience.
My wife and I stayed in the vineyard cottage at the waring house for two nights, a beautiful spot. The cottage itself is charming and made of stone. Large open wood beams tying it all together. The electric fireplace is nice and the huge soaker tub is a bonus. The private sitting area is beautiful, you really feel like your away from everything else but yet a one minute walk to the main building. You get a private parking spot right in front of the cottage as well. The hot tub in the sitting area is beautiful at night to sit back and relax. Our meals were excellent and our service was nothing short of amazing. We are thankful to the waring house for making us feel so important and for taking excellent care of us during our stay.
