Visited Lord Elgin Wednesday September 24, 2025. A favourite restaurant of mine when I camped in Port Elgin from 1970 to 1989. Still as delicious as what i remember but a little disappointed that they now charge extra if you want coleslaw or a roll. I've never had a fish and chips meal that coleslaw wasn't included.

Upon arrival we were immediately shown to a table, at which our very pleasant and friendly server arrived within moments. Our order came piping hot within a reasonable time frame. Our food was very good, and plentiful. For fish and chips you can not go wrong with here. We enjoyed everything about it, and would recommend to others.

Our waiter was terrific. He was so quick and so friendly and he was quite skilled at dealing with the 6 kids in our party and the fish was delicious.

Amazing food, exceptional service in a warm and friendly atmosphere. How dining should be before things like 'inventory management systems' and overly complicated menues became all the rage. Keeping things simple and customer focused is how to win in the restaurant game. Great job!

I was particularly disappointed with this meal. The $9 regular size cesar salad looked like a small and it was the first time in my life I didn’t like the flavour of the cesar dressing. My daughter didn’t finish it either which is another first. The fries were dry and hard and the fish was average at best. Nothing special whatsoever as would be expected from a restaurant that only serves fish and chips. The best part was the coleslaw (additional $). No draft beer, no peas.

4 ounces of halibut that was prepared well. French fries were burnt and shrivelled. 22.50 for an order. Definitely would not recommend nor will we be returning.

This was our first visit while exploring the Ontario West Coast, and we found the diner to be quite charming. We were fortunate to be in the area on a Saturday, as the restaurant operates only four days a week. We indulged in the Halibut and Chips, which were expertly prepared. The halibut was delectable, the fries were perfectly crispy, and the coleslaw was delightful. Notably, the food was not overly seasoned, contributing to a healthier dining experience with respect to salt usage. I highly recommend this well-managed establishment.
