Loved this place. Set in a beautiful little town. We had the Pickerel dinner and enjoyed better than what we have had in PortDover. Highly recommend :)

Always a summer destination for me on the motorcycle.
It was...fine. The poutine was served cold (the gravy didn't even melt the cheese), but the fish was decent.

Went in for a drink with a couple friends waited 20 minutes to get served. As we watched 3 of the servers sample drinks they had made for a male customer sitting at the bar. We ended up standing up and walked out with no service. I would not recommend this place to anyone. How disrespectful these young servers were. I was embarrassed that I had taken my friend there to celebrate a special event. Save your money and go to Mc Donald's you'll get better service. This happened on July 13 2025.

Went for dinner at 8:30. The restaurant closes at 9. However the kitchen was closed without cause or notice. Absolutely horrible way to run a restaurant!!!

It was five minutes plus before we acknowledged and sat outside at a picnic table. The atmosphere was nice. We were not acknowledged for at least 10 minutes after we sat down. We had our order ready to go once our waitress showed up and she did apologize profusely. Our drinks were good, I had the Caesar. Food came out after about 20 minutes. Immediately, I noticed my husband’s dinner. I was in shock at the size of the perch that were next to his large french fry plate. The perch were smaller than a large french fry and overcooked terribly as was my one piece of haddock. He hesitated immensely because he’s not a complainer, and I finally said something about the perch size and being overcooked. The waitress offered to have some more perch cooked, but after 15+ minutes, the perch had not come out and by then we decided to leave as his french fries we’re also not good with the chopped pickles on it. It was very disappointing because it’s a beautiful area and the restaurant is nice. They have unworthy food for the price that they’re charging. She did comp my husband‘s dinner and we didn’t even get the extra fish that was offered us. I would reconsider spending too much money at The boathouse for dinner and just have a drink and find another spot. Believe me we know fish and this was not any comparison to Lake Erie Perch. I feel extremely embarrassed for the servers that have to bring this food to their customers.

Restaurantji Recommends
We ordered take out. We got a meal and a spinach dip. For an $18 dip it was not good at all. Didn’t know you could mess up a spin dip but it had an awful fishy taste. Don’t recommend.

After meaning to visit The Boathouse for ages, we finally made our way there for the first time, and it did not disappoint. Nestled by the marina, the restaurant offers a lovely patio with a relaxing view of the harbour—perfect for soaking in the atmosphere while enjoying a meal.
We opted for the perch and chip dinner, which came with a light panko breading that added a satisfying crunch. We also upgraded to the Dill Pickle fries. The dill pickle fries were a unique and flavorful twist, complementing the dish well. Everything was cooked to perfection and served promptly, making for an enjoyable dining experience.
The service was phenomenal—warm, attentive, and efficient, adding to the welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant. The Boathouse has a charm that makes it worth a visit, especially if you're looking to enjoy a waterfront meal in a peaceful environment. We're glad we finally made it and can see why it's a local favourite.
Prices are very reasonable, menu options are plentiful, the location is lovely, there is plenty of on-site parking, and a lovely patio to dine at. What’s not to love?
