About an hour from Ottawa and well worth the drive. The food is excellent, as is the service, and the portions are more than ample. We had the salmon wrap with salad this time ... delicious! Great place !!

A gourmet menu in an unexpected location. Set in a small but charming old general store, the Blackbird has a rich and interesting menu with items far from the local fare, expertly prepared and presented. I would have given five stars across the board except for an unnecessary delay in getting our bill at the end. Other than that, the service was superb as well. Highly recommended for great dining.

I would love to say I have tried it but every time I try to reserve they are closed. I have heard the food is fantastic. I live about 5 mins away and have tried going multiple times this summer and every time they are closed. I give up.

I passed by this morning on the way back from a morning swim in Calabogie. I had the soup of the day (hamburger, tomato, and barley), a coffee, and the cookies and cream cheesecake. The quality of the food was exceptional and legitimately left me speechless. The interior of the cafe was very cozy and felt very homely, with very nice decor all around. I didn't get the name of the waitress, but she was very kind and refilled my coffee frequently throughout!
I should mention that I had no idea this place only took reservations for brunch/dinner, and apparently I was lucky they had tables open for walk-in dining. This isn't usually the case apparently, so make sure to call and book ahead if you know you're coming here in order to guarantee a spot! All-in-all, a 10/10 experience and I'll definitely be coming here for dinner (or even another brunch) at some point.
