This place gets 4 big booms! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!

It's Arya

I’ve been a loyal customer of Habib’s Corner for nearly 2 years now, and I even left a 5-star review about 4 months ago. Unfortunately, this is an update to that review, and I’m dropping it to 1 star based on my recent experiences.

Over the past 4-5 months, the quality of the food has completely crashed while the prices continue to go up. My absolute favorite item used to be the Gorilla Fries — I’d order them every time. But for the last 5-6 times I’ve had them, the fries were cold and soggy, the cheese was cold, and the overall dish was just garbage. It felt like they were serving leftovers, not something freshly made.

On top of that, every time I call and place an order 20–30 minutes ahead (so I don’t have to wait), I still end up waiting when I get there. What’s worse is that I’ve literally seen my food sitting behind the counter while I’m told they’re “still working on it.” I’ve had to wait an extra 15–20 minutes, only to be handed cold food that’s been sitting out the whole time.

The service and quality have really gone downhill, and I’m not sure what’s changed — but sadly, I won’t be returning anymore.

Also worth mentioning — the washroom is in terrible condition. Every time I’ve been there, it’s been filthy and clearly not maintained. Honestly, it feels like something you’d find at a roadside stop on a highway in India — completely neglected and unsanitary. For a restaurant in this area, it’s unacceptable.

And let’s be real — this is not what halal food is supposed to be. Halal doesn’t just mean the meat is prepared a certain way. It also means doing business with honesty and integrity. When you take people’s money and serve them cold, low-quality, careless food, that’s not halal in any sense. Just being blunt — it’s a disgrace to even label it that way.

One more thing I feel needs to be said: It honestly feels like there are no food inspections happening at all in this country — because if a place like this were to get properly inspected, it wouldn’t last even one day. The overall cleanliness and hygiene are far below any acceptable standard.

Very Disappointed — Long-Time Customer Let Down

I’ve been going to Habib’s Corner for almost two years now. I even left a glowing 5-star review a few months back because at that time, the food was genuinely good. Sadly, things have gone downhill fast, and I feel like I need to update my review to reflect how bad the experience has become.

Lately, the food quality has seriously dropped while the prices keep climbing. My go-to order used to be the Gorilla Fries, and they were amazing at one point. But the last several times I’ve ordered them, the fries came out cold and soggy, the cheese wasn’t even melted, and the whole thing was a mess. It honestly felt like leftover food reheated in a rush — totally unacceptable.

I usually call ahead 20 to 30 minutes before arriving so I don’t have to wait, but it hasn’t made a difference. Multiple times I’ve shown up and been told they’re “still making” my food — even though it’s been sitting on the counter in plain sight the whole time. Then I’m stuck waiting another 15–20 minutes, only to get food that’s already cold. It’s either disorganized or they just don’t care anymore.

On top of that, the washroom is disgusting. It looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in ages. It’s honestly worse than what you’d find in some random highway rest stop in India — dirty, smelly, and neglected. For a restaurant operating in this city, it’s embarrassing.

And here’s what really concerns me: It doesn’t seem like there’s any health or cleanliness inspection happening here at all. If this place ever faced a real inspection, I highly doubt they’d be allowed to stay open even for a day. The hygiene standards are just not there.

Lastly, if you’re calling this food halal — that comes with a responsibility. Halal isn’t just about where the meat comes from. It also means operating ethically and respectfully. Taking people’s money and handing them low-effort, poor-quality food isn’t halal in any sense of the word. You can’t slap a label on it and ignore the rest of what it stands for.

Got gorilla fries with shawarma chicken instead of beef. Found it good. Takeout so fries were not as crispy as they could have been. Good for something different. Shawarma poutine basically.

Used to be the best place for the price of their food. Ordered gorilla fries today and the price came up to over $13, which was a huge price difference from the old price.

Was my favorite place for a year and I used to order the gorilla fries and the double patty burger multiple times a week but just like every good place they decided to increase the prices, decrease the portion size and mess with the flavor. Used to bring all my friends saying this is the best halal place in Richmond Hill for the price. And where am I suppose to contact you with my order?

Hidden spot for getting some delectable fast food and cravings! Good options on the menu, good portion sized and fast service (it was also 9pm on a weekday so..). They are open until late so it's a plus plus for late night fixes! I'd go back for that. Modern decor design. Tried shawarma poutine (I'll skip that next time since I found it just ok) and angry bird burger which was good. Keep it up guys!

Dietary restrictions: Good place to get Halal food.

First off I've been a big fan of you guys since 2022. You offered good food at a good price. But just recently I noticed there's been a big hike in your prices. On ubereats, the gorilla fries used to be $7.89, then went up to a $8.89 until just recently. But i guess as of October, its jumped up to $13.50? Its nearly doubled in price in span of 2 years. Unfortunate.
