Nowadays, Cantonese restaurants equipped with huge aquariums that are stocked with live seafood have become a common sight in the vibrant Richmond Hill/Markham Chinese culinary landscape. Nestled behind Richlane Mall, inside a secluded open-air strip plaza, atop of a small knoll, houses another such establishment. Tonight’s dinner gathering, organized by another family member, is a follow-up to last week’s going-away party. This time, the quality and caliber of food has been substantially elevated! For tonight, the meal will feature a Big Kahuna.....Live Alaskan Red King Crab prepared multiple ways! As for the wines?! Since IMHO, Riesling and Crab together are part of the Creator’s plan, a fine bottle of German off-dry masterpiece to pair with the star is a requisite. In addition to another bottle of elusive perfume and style 2014 Chateau Lafite, a reliable Zenato Amarone was also added to the mix for pairing with the meat dishes. Our party of eight went through the following courses with gusto and avidity: - 9 pounds Alaskan King Crab prepared 3 ways. - Steamed legs with caramelized minced garlic on a bed of rice vermicelli - Wok fried body with Maggi Sauce - Steamed egg custard Chawanmushi with crab brains - Whole Cantonese Roasted Duck, ‘ Pei-Pa Style ‘ - Stirred fry Chinese Cauliflower with wind dried preserved meats - Braised Tofu with mixed mushrooms and Chinese Greens - Fried Pork Spare ribs with Preserved Olive Tapenade Glaze - Stirred fry beef with Chinese Kale ( Gai-Lan ) Complimentary desserts of Red bean dessert soup, Cherry flavored jello and Almond Cookies. Overall, the lovingly prepared food coupled with the superb friendly service created a highly satisfactory dinner experience. Standard of the cooking IMO ranked amongst some of GTA’s best. During the past week, I had the good fortune to savor some extremely well executed Cantonese fare, first from StarChiva and now at Oriental Bistro. Indeed, I am grateful and blessed to live within such close proximity to some of GTA finest Chinese cuisine establishments.

Came here for Chinese winter solstice. The price is quite expensive but the food quality is good. I like the steamed fish, it is right the time and not over cooked.

Went with a half dozen others, one of whom was originally from Hong Kong, to celebrate a retirement at the recommendation of one of the members of our group. Enjoyed delicious lobster - the best lobster I've ever eaten in fact - deep-fried chicken, duck, ribs as well as some delicious vegetables. So much food! I would have prefer if they'd had some Chinese beer but aside from that this was pretty much a perfect meal.

We came for dinner. Generally, the prices were high for set menus, with some of the options less than appetizing for timid souls. We chose the Dim Sum menu, some of which is available all day. Godd choice! Items were tasty. We also ordered a Lobster Noodle. The noodles were rather sticky and the lobster on the small side.

Too small, not enough table for 4 or 5.

The dim sum size was right, the presentation was excellent and the service was up to standards and expectations from a high-end restaurant.

Dishes were well prepared, matching service and ambience. Interesting atmosphere, not the usual decor as this location was a former Italian restaurant.

We preordered a 10 course pre-set menu because we were told the kitchen is very busy that night. Food in each dish were served in a small pate to each guest A new dish will come before we can finish the previous one. We asked the server to slow down from the 4th dish onward, The pattern continued, we felt being rushed, Didn’t have time to enjoy.

We have 4 people on a Saturday morning around 11am. The place has already filled up. Our table seemed like the last available. The place was decent (as a few months new restaurant should be) and not TOO fancy.Tables spacing are not too clamp as some Chinese joints. I think we ordered 9 dim sums which were all old time favorites, like har-gau, siu-mai, beef balls, rice noodle rolls etc. All fresh and delicious, classic presentation and not fancy as some so-called fine dining. Service was on par, not exceptional. Bathroom was okay to me, but not sure about during the top hours! It ended up 65+tips. So I would say it's on the pricey side for a light lunch and I didn't feel a lot in my stomach. There was a line up when we left, and the parking lot was packed. Lastly, I think I'm a little generous on the 4 stars. ;-)
