I’ve been to Kim’s Tofu several times and realized I never actually wrote a review; so here it is! This spot has become one of my go-to Korean comfort food places. The menu is simple, mostly focusing on tofu soups, bibimbap, and a great assortment of classic Korean side dishes like kimchi, pickled radish, bean sprouts, and sweet beans. Everything always tastes fresh, and the consistency keeps me coming back.
I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend, and every visit has been just as good as the first. The service here is consistently friendly and attentive.
This time, I ordered the kimchi tofu soup with beef, which came bubbling hot with a side of sizzling Korean purple rice was absolutely delicious. My partner had the dumpling soup, which was also really good, but the kimchi tofu soup definitely had the edge for me. It was more flavorful, richer, and had the perfect level of spice.
Overall, Kim’s Tofu continues to be a great spot for comforting, no-frills Korean food. Highly recommend!

One of the best soondubu (Korean tofu stew) that you'll find in Richmond Hill and Markham, at a great price.

This is my go-to spot for soondubu when I'm craving it, located in an unassuming spot. You can pick a wide variety of soondubu for $15.95 (at the time of this review), and there's a cash discount if you spend more than $40.

The taste is simple, yet so complex. Very delicious stew with purple rice and an assortment of banchan. Nothing more to say there.

The seafood and kimchi pancakes are definitely a rip off ($22+ for a pancake that is so cheap to make?...), but I will come back time and time again for the soondubu. Overall, highly recommend coming here to try the stew!

Hidden Gem. I have been here twice. First time, I had Pork Bone Soup that was excellent. The soup base was simply great, evidence of hours of cooking. The second time, I had Bulgogi Soup was slightly disappointing because the beef strips became a little tough after sitting in the very hot soup for a while. Perhaps I should have take all bulgogi out of the soup as soon as it’s was brought to the table. The side dishes of Kimchi, Raddish strips, beansprouts and sweet beans were all delicious. Great service, the dining room was looked after by one person, Young Gi, whose was an amazingly efficient server. Because the place was quite full and people were ordering takeouts, she was actually running part of them. All the customers were well looked after, and her great personality made the dining experience more pleasant.

Have been here several times when craving comfort Korean food. Service is always friendly and efficient. Food is delicious and spice level is customizable. Price is reasonable for quality and size.

This time we ordered:

Combination Soon Tofu mild spice-just a hint of spice. Good amount of tofu. One mussel, small pieces of beef, one piece of shrimp.

Dumpling Soon Tofu medium spice-good amount of spice but not too much. Two pieces of beef dumplings.

Four complimentary side dishes of picked radish, kimchi, beans, and bean sprouts.

We’ve tried most everything on the menu over in past visits and haven’t come across anything we don’t like.

The purple rice in the stone bowl is so yummy. Soft rice on top and crispy rice on the bottom.

Will continue to return.

This restaurant tucked away and hidden from everyone is an absolute GEM. As soon as we entered we were greeted with a huge smile and great service. We took our seats and with in seconds had a nice warm cup of tea that was absolutely DELICIOUS. I had never been to a restaurant that does food this particular way, and was confused when ordering, but the staff were so patient and helped us with the menu process never making us feel out of place or like a burden. We never felt rushed AT ALL. When the food came out the staff helped show us how the process works: they brought out a BOILING soup like entree, a dish with some eggs, some side dishes, and a huge stone pot with rice. It was honestly so much fun and there was SO much food. The staff regularly came back to see if we needed any more side dishes and if everything was okay. For the price, the amount of food, the quality of service, and the experience... it is impossible to find something less than perfect to describe this restaurant. We will be definitely returning regularly and recommend that anyone wanting a warm, welcoming environment, incredible food, amazing prices, and service that is unmatched... Kim's Tofu is the place.

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Kim’s Tofu! My mom and I shared the Combination Soon Tofu (mild), which came with beef, mussels, and shrimp, served alongside hot stone pot rice. My brother ordered the Seafood Soon Tofu (spicy), packed with shrimp, mussels, and oysters also with that signature stone pot rice.

One of the servers (possibly the owner) kindly pointed out the crispy barley rice at the bottom of the hot stone pot and recommended eating it for both its taste and health benefits, a great tip!

When the food arrived, we were more than ready to dig in. The soon tofu was flavourful and comforting, and the seafood was cooked just right. The banchan (side dishes) were a perfect complement to the meal, it was tasty, varied, and refilled upon request.

Everything from the food to the service was excellent. We left full and happy. Definitely recommend stopping by Kim’s Tofu if you’re in the mood for hearty, satisfying Korean comfort food!

I love their seafood spicy tofu soup - hearty, flavorful and steamy hot! Their price has gone up and on the pricier side, but quality is there. Their rice that came with the soup is cooked to perfect texture to be served with the soup, but very small portion.
The service is average in an Asian restaurant, and atmosphere is aged with limited ventilation so it could get warm in there in the summer.
