We like their steam rice rolls.
We were looking for a late night place. And they open til 1 in the morning

Good food. Cozy place. Open early morning. One of the best rice rolls. Their chef recommended dishes are all pretty good.

Milk tea is served with sugar on the side . I can manage my own sugar in take , which i like a lot.

I recently visited a restaurant in Richmond Hill called “Millstone Rice Rolls” which specializes in breakfast and opens quite late. They offer a variety of dishes, including congee, rice dishes, and cheung fun (rice noodle rolls). We were excited to try their cheung fun, but unfortunately, it turned out to be rather mediocre. The rolls fell apart easily and didn’t have the flavor we were hoping for.

The congee was average—not particularly great, but not bad either. However, the deep-fried dough sticks were disappointing. They lacked the crispy texture and the satisfying interior that you’d expect. Instead, they were quite dense and didn’t complement the congee well.

The interior of the restaurant was decent, though it felt a bit small. There’s a large glass window that lets you see the kitchen staff at work, which is nice. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. The staff was not very friendly, rarely greeted us or thanked us, and sometimes the food was practically tossed onto the table rather than gently placed.

This was our first and likely last visit, especially considering we drove several hours from the U.S. to get there. We’d definitely need a worthwhile experience to make the trip again, and unfortunately, this restaurant didn’t meet that standard.

Food is good. We ordered #1 plain rice roll - is delivered instead of made in house, the bottom does not have any sauce
#2 fried noodle with green spouts- ok
#3 congee - very good but too pricy
#3 deep fried dough stick - very good
#4 Taiwanese deep fried chicken on rice - very good but a bit salty

Don't get the turnip cake. It has no turnip taste at all. The ear fungus salad is tasty. The rice rolls and congee are very good.

Food is okay, but zero service. Scan the QR code to order by yourself and pay at the counter, but they said TIP is required!! Ridiculous shop!! MacDonald’s service is ten times better, and they don’t ask for TIP!!

I was a bit disappointed with the Hong Kong style mixed sauce rice noodle rolls. The wrapper was a bit thick, which made the texture less smooth. It also seemed that there wasn't enough sauce.

Tasty Rice Noodle rolls, and fish balls.
Wow the price is very affordable for the area. Large dining room, fast service everything made fresh when you order.

This place has declined HORRENDOUSLY.
1. We were not greeted when we walked in. Another guest had to tell us that we could go to an empty table on our own.
2. The servers were extremely rude. When we asked for a spoon we were told to get it ourselves.
3. They use FROZEN SHRIMP for the shrimp rolls.
4. The 炸两 (fried dough rice roll) was not prepared properly; instead of rolling the dough inside the rice roll they instead plopped a rice roll over the dough, causing the rice roll to easily slip off the dough when you want to eat them together. The dough's texture was also dense and soft, not crispy.
Highly do not recommend this place and will not be back.

Growing up, I never really gravitated toward rice rolls or congee - there were always too many other tempting dishes at dim sum! I found rice rolls too thick and filling, often taking up valuable stomach space that I’d rather reserve for dumplings and other favourites. But Millstone Rice Rolls completely changed my perspective.
The shrimp and pork rice rolls were a revelation. Instead of being thick and heavy, the rice noodle was thin, delicate, and slightly wrinkly - more like a wide noodle than a dense sheet. The filling was generous, with plump shrimp and flavourful pork, and the sweetened soy sauce tied it all together beautifully.
We also tried the rice rolls wrapped around youtiao (egg dough stick), and it might’ve been the best I’ve ever had. The youtiao was soft, chewy, and perfectly salty - none of that hard, mouth-cutting texture I’ve unfortunately experienced elsewhere. Paired with the thin rice roll, it was such a satisfying bite.
The congee we ordered - dried scallop, gingko seed, chicken, ginger, and bean curd stick - also stood out. The rice had a grounded texture, not too mushy but still comforting, with flavours that blended seamlessly. It was surprisingly light for a congee, which made it even more enjoyable.
All in all, I had a really positive experience. Millstone has definitely made me a believer, and I can’t wait to come back to try more.

I saw this Millstone rice rolls on TikTok so I decided to check out before my massage. It was pretty good.
They seemed busy with their customers mainly are family and students. It makes sense: kids love snacks. They have a vast selection of rice rolls and I got the beef & pork kidney. They tasted awesome. I adored the beef stew 😍 omg the tendon is soft and mouth watering 🥳 deliciousness. I ordered chowmein noodles & chicken with abalone congee to go.

Service is fast and effective. This restaurant stood the test of time I guess. Super O.G and everyone who works here knows exactly what they are doing 💗
