A casual family dinner featuring delightful, well cooked food but sadly marred by some aggressive, crabby service and devious business practice! The five noteworthy and delicious dishes we ordered tonight included the following:- Fried Pork Chop with Thousand Island Sauce- Sauteed Veal Short-Ribs with onions and Teriyaki Sauce- Stir fried Lotus Roots and House Cured Salted Pork with Brown FermentedBean Curd.- Stir Fried Giant Propeller Clam with XO sauce- Fried head-on Prawns with Salted Duck Egg Yolk CoatingExecution of the above captioned deeply complex and exotic tasting dishes were near flawless. The finger licking, fried prawns with salted egg yolk was one of the best renditions I have come across. Unlike a lot of overly cooked and dried versions, New-Choice perfectly timed and well seared Veal short-ribs was a pleasure to eat, the sweet and savory gooey sauce, vivid and delectable tasting. The uncommon, stir fried Propeller Clams was crunchy and sweet, the umami packed and slightly spicy hot XO sauce, a well chosen partner. Both the Pork Chops and Lotus Roots are smothered with more tasty and gooey sauce. Excellent companion with plain rice. Now comes the sad part of the meal! Our arrival was first greeted by a smiling lady server who made a quick 180 degree ‘grouchy’ turn around when we did not follow up with ordering the extravagant and expensive dishes she recommended. Eg., $15 each, Diver Scallops in the Shell, steamed cooked on a bed of minced garlic or using $29 per pound lobster instead of our preferred, less expensive head-on Prawns.A mandatory add-on service charge is an extremely rare sight amongst GTA Chinese restaurants. If at all, such practice is usually found in higher-end eating establishments for a larger group. However, tonight, our bill arrived unannounced with a ‘ stealthily hidden ‘ 13% service charge already applied. We found no such gratuity policy printed on the menu nor did our server make such mention when the bill was delivered!....dishonest and deceitful!

Visited New Choice Restaurant tonight. Had a frustrating experience with their mandatory service charge of $6.49 (around 13.5%). It felt unfair as the service was minimal, requiring us to flag down waiters for over 2 minutes for attention. While the charge was automatically selected on the payment terminal, it wasn't clearly mentioned beforehand. Would recommend clarifying tipping policies and ensuring service matches any mandatory charges.I went to this restaurant to eat tonight, and I was very unhappy when there was a mandatory service charge of $6.49 (approximately 13.5% of the bill before tax) at checkout. The waiter did not proactively mention this fee. When checking out, the consumption has been pre-selected on the machine, which feels very unfair because the service quality is not very good and we need to wave for several minutes to call the waiter. It is recommended that restaurants clearly inform customers before charging mandatory service fees and ensure that the quality of service is commensurate with it.

Jang. This place is good value. Open late at night after your 9:30 pretty much there are no good restaurants. Would definitely come back, service is good.Rec beef with sizzling plate, it's a custom request and worth the additional $3.A-choy with beancurb is really good too.All in all another A grade restaurant.

Don't be fooled by these fake reviews. This is the best Chinese restaurant in Canada hands down. You'll thank me later when you try.

I really have to question their sanitation practices. One of the items I purchased had three pieces of what appears to be elastic bands in it. Of course, I did not eat the meal. Called to report the find, they said they cannot give a refund they only can replace the meal....really? They think I would eat another meal from them after finding foreign items in my meal. That was my first visit, I will not be going back there.

Our server was friendly and hilarious. We each enjoyed our soups (wonton / hot and sour) and shared the Canton chow mein.

Do not recommend. This used to be one of the most popular places for canton food. Haven’t been here are since Covid. I would say food here is now terrible! They probably got a new chef since the food is disgusting. Was an absolute disappointment. Won’t be back.

It's a bad shop. There are only a few slices of pork belly with spicy peppers. The soup is like shabu-shabu water. The lobster is as small as a crayfish. Avoid this trap. They force you to charge service fees and don’t let you use credit cards. It’s not worth even one star. I hope the junk shop closes soon.

The lunch set is great value! And delicious! I wasn't feeling well, so I ordered a lean meat porridge. The porridge felt like home! Eating porridge is very comfortable!
