As always, im very happy with absolutely delicious food that Russian deli makes. Just picked up my full menu from the store, for my family gathering. Everything is made fresh, packed and ready to go. Thank you to the chef and great service. Always pleasant and friendly environment at the store 😊. 100% recommend 👌

I normally don’t write reviews, but what happened this week was serious enough that I feel obligated to warn other customers.

On Tuesday morning, before work, I stopped by this store to quickly pick up a specific spice (khmeli-suneli). Since I was already there, I decided to buy something sweet for my coworkers, so I purchased a caramel honey cake from the refrigerated display. I brought it to work, shared it with the girls on my team, and even offered a piece to a supplier who had come in that morning.

Within minutes, they all noticed something was wrong. When they opened the cake, there was visible mold inside — not just slightly spoiled, but clear fungal growth. I was shocked and embarrassed, because I’m the one who brought it.

I immediately called the store to explain the situation. They told me to bring the cake back. So I left work, spent my time and gas, and drove back to return the product.

Here’s where the situation got even worse.

When I walked past the cake display again, the exact same cake was still sitting there, despite the fact that I had already informed them it was moldy and unsafe. I quietly asked the employee why it was still on the shelf. Instead of addressing the issue, she raised her voice loudly so everyone around could hear, insisting that “there is nothing wrong with the cake” and that “all employees tried it.” She spoke in an extremely rude, dismissive tone, basically implying I was lying.

Then she told me — very aggressively — to “go over there and take your money,” as if she was doing me a favor.

For context, I work as a chef. I know exactly what spoiled food looks like, and I know what kind of consequences serving moldy products can lead to. I told her that leaving that cake on display could make someone sick, and that they should remove it immediately. She seemed surprised for a moment, but continued being rude.

At that point, I didn’t even take my refund. I simply walked out. The complete lack of responsibility, basic hygiene standards, and respect for customers was unbelievable.

This wasn’t just a bad experience — it was a serious health concern. Selling spoiled food, refusing to acknowledge it, and then treating customers with open hostility is completely unacceptable.

I hope this review encourages the management to take food safety and customer service seriously, because no one deserves to go through this situation, and someone could genuinely get hurt if this continues.

Went here once with a friend. Been told it's primarily a Russian Jewish type store. Large counter for deli type food. Grocery shelves. I can't remember a produce area. They have a cooked food counter at the back. I had bought a couple of different type patty/burgers. Also cutlets. I thought they were pretty good. But i thought they were a bit pricey. But so is everything else these days. The ladies that served me were nice too.

Very unfriendly. They don’t even say hi back like they’re holding a grudge. All the bread is stale and almost everything is way past expiration date.

Why not close store at 6 pm, or maybe why even open? In the last year every time I want to stop by it's always closed!!! Guess new owner is pretty useless!

Great quality products. This is the only place we trust with cooked food. It is always fresh and homemade tasting. The prices are fair. The staff working there are kind and make you feel welcome.

Richmond Hill Deli - who knew what treasures lay within? While in the neighbourhood one Saturday morning, my curiosity was piqued by the outdoor pictures of culinary delights, outlined in red, declaring: "Healthy and Tasty", "Homemade with Love". Once inside, I was greeted with a panorama of products from Eastern Europe and Central Asia - including my favourites:

• Plov (Uzbek-style rice pilaf),
• Samsa (Uzbek samosas with beef/lamb filling),
• Khachapuri (Georgian cheese-filled "pizza"),
• Pelmeni (Russian meat dumplings of various fillings - I like the turkey and lamb pelmeni),
• Lülə Kebabs (minced meat kebabs from South Kavkaz),
• Kefir/Ryazhenka (similar to yougurts),
• various Mineral Waters,
... and the list goes on.

I had the good fortune to meet the owner, Alik, who welcomed me to his store as if to his own table. The staff at the hot food counter were warm and hospitable. To experience the world of Eastern European and Central Asian delicacies, this is the place to come to.

The only thing missing was my most favourite item of all - Chebureki (deep-fried turnovers of Crimean Tatar origin), ideally the lamb-filled variety, but the spinach/cheese ones are okay too. If Richmond Hill Deli could stock these, my joy would be complete.

As the can of Uzbek Plov said on its label: "Вкусно - нет слов" ("Tasty - no words".)

Richmond Hill Deli: у меня нет слов - только радость ("I have no words - only joy").

Help your delivery guy, maybe cut a 4x4 so your delivery door can be held open. You guys seem ignorant and arrogant.

Staff just left a shopping cart in the walkway.

Safe to say the people that come here are also ignorant and arrogant.

Even better their open sign isnt even turned on.
