Popped in for lunch on our way out of town and got the broasted chicken!
Was delicious- I believe it was made and served by the owners as well!
Always a pleasure stopping in to support local businesses like this one!

Good service. Looked like the owner that served us. Friendly guy, happy, had a smile on his face. I enjoyed the club sandwich with fries and a coffee. Large quantity for the price. Nice and quiet. Easy to chat while having your meal.

These places are so hard to find now. And they won't be here for much longer. Incredible old-school restaurant. Reminded me of being a kid again going out to eat with my grandparents. What a gem. Old-school crispy fries, broasted chicken, what more could you want? Chicken fingers were also the way I remember them as a kid. You cannot find this sort of thing anywhere barely. Small town treasure. I hope to be back one day.

Ended up in Ridgetown after a work errand gone awry and one meal from Sam's made everything better. The owner has the best recommendations and sense of humour, and genuinely cares about each person who walks in the door. This place doesn't feel like a restaurant - it feels like coming home.

What a delight! It’s worth the drive for the Food and Entertainment! If you don’t have a personality or sense of humour, don’t t go ! The Gentleman, and he is, is a wonder to just watch! The Food ample, excellent taste and value! His portions could be smaller to be quite honest! I always leave an ample tip because you just leave there wanting to come back! It’s worth the drive! Stopped for lunch today, and ordered the Broasted Chicken to take home for dinner tonight! Don’t go in wanting to be in a rush, plan your visit!

My wife and I take a routine drive to Ridgetown whenever we have a hankering for a weekend Pickerel Dinner at a local establishment. Suffering from cabin fever, I decided to make the drive to the establishment without considering the day of the week. Unfortunately, it was Monday, the only day of the week when the place is closed!
During the drive to Ridgetown, we encountered inclement weather serving up ice and snow. Very hungry and experiencing low blood sugar, I did not relish the drive back to Chatham on an empty stomach. Not realizing there was an undiscovered diner called Sam’s Restaurant, we were grateful it was open on Monday.
The current owner/chef Paul is an amicable man with a very dry wit that would tickle Mel Brook’s heart. And like another review JOL mentions, he’s a one-man band doing everything, including the special effort of making your dining experience a memorable one. A charitable man, who treated a young woman to a meal, who was facing a lengthy wait for a ride home.
While Sam’s Restaurant is renown for its Broasted Chicken, the real gem on the menu is hidden behind the All-Day-Breakfast menu. The Best Roast Beef entrée in Chatham-Kent. Tender Roast Beef slowly cooked to perfection served up with mashed potatoes, gravy, a side of mixed vegetable and your choice of rice pudding or jell-O for dessert. Price tag for our two servings along with a beverage & tax came to only $39.20!
Don’t tell the current owner I told you, ‘cause he’s kind of shy due to overhead limitations, but you’ve got to smuggle in some prepared minced horseradish in order to send this meal into the Michelin Star Stratosphere!

Had the Broasted chicken meal and it was amazing! The owner was super funny and very accommodating. I'm from London and will definitely be making a trip there again!
This place is amazing, the owner is such a sweet man, and he does it all by himself, he talks to his customers and gets to know them, makes jokes, he takes orders, provides drinks, cooks food and serves all by himself, so yes service is going to be slow, but the food and the atmosphere is so good! Those crying about him being talkative and being slow, go to McDonald's, theres one in Blenheim you'll have the service you deserve there. Leave this restaurants to those who don't mind the relaxed nature of it.

Stopped in with my family (8 of us total) and the owner was beyond friendly. For working by himself, both cooking and serving , there was a small wait but all our food was delicious and warm! Will be coming back next time I am in town :)
