The Root - Golf Club & Restaurant

Had an absolute wonderful meal here. I recommend this place over and over. Recently went to one of our high end restaurant and the root blew it out of the water. Cant wait to go back.

We had our Christmas Dinner from work here. Excellent food. Service was ok but no smiles, no greetings. I added 20% gratuity to my 162 dollar meal and found out the gratuity was included with the price because we were a group. The server said I told you at the beginning it was included. He did not say anything. He offered to give me back the extra 20% at the point. I said Merry Christmas keep it. So he made over 50 dollars from me alone. The food was excellent, but service was not. Even the lady helping him looked mad or pissed off. I've been in the hospitality industry for decades so know what should be expected , especially when I dropped 200 bucks on my meal.

Beautiful food, atmosphere is great in the evening but some golfers can get loud, (the younger ones), they are just more excited. But overall great place.

Amazing chef great food

I used to really like Root River because they seem to know who they were. But in the last 5 years it’s become overpriced and the course has shrunk. It’s basically an executive course at a premium golf course price. They should be charging $45 for 18 but they charge twice that. 6 par threes are you kidding. Lastly, I paid $16 for a hotdog at the turn. The bartender said it was sold with fries regardless he couldn’t change the price. I didn’t want fries. I think I paid about $7.50 at Disney World for a hotdog. The food at the restaurant is very good. But the whole establishment is out to lunch on their pricing for golf and dining. You need to realize who you are like you used to. You are a very average public course, so you should be pricing accordingly. This is why you have so many tee spots available every weekend where no one else has tee times.

Best meal I’ve ever had, saw some rude customers cuss out the staff. Sometimes people are looking to take their bad days out on others. Had an amazing time with my wife and just wanted the incredible staff here to know that other customers do see the care and thought each of you put into making your guests feel comfortable and well cared for. Again the food was out of this world. (I had chicken cordon blu with pasta and my wife had the snapper.)

We ordered the Jlhor cab sauv wine, shrimp scampi, the roots signature cordon bleu with Caesar salad, rigatoni a la voldka with signature salad, coffee, and the phyllo wrapped cheesecake Carmel apple. The food was phenomenal and the service was great! A true hidden gem! Big flavour in an unexpected place! We will be back for more!

The Prime Rib dinner was one of the best we ever had. Generous portion and wonderful sides. Excellent salad included. Staff were excellent. Would recommend and hopefully can return. Cozy atmosphere overlooking the greens.

We just went there for something to eat there was 4 of us who ordered their famous lobster rolls…what we got was nothing like the picture…not even sure it was lobster…pretty sure it was a combination of canned tuna and salmon…never walk away hungry but tonight we all did…very disappointed…
