First time we tried blockhouse. the idea of the food sounded delicious. ordered a jalapeño popper grilled cheese. waited a while (it was busy - understandable) and my bacon in my sandwich was raw (ok maybe a slight char on some spots but mostly raw). server never came to check if we needed anything during our meal (again it was busy) but I ended up drinking my child's drink since I didn't have a refill or an offer for a refill. I'm sad about my bacon :(
Had an amazing time. Their Soo Falls Lager is delicious. Not a 100% sure, but this beer gives notes of honey and nutty. Since I'm not sure, I have to go back again today:).
Our waitress Olivia provided us with solid menu suggestions. The Pub Burger is extremely good. As well as the Smashburger. And of course, you can not visit Canada and not get the Poutine.
Thanks again, Olivia. Definitely putting vinegar on french fries when we get back to Houston, Texas.
Kid-friendliness: Kids loved it.

Three couples ordered lunch for the train ride on October 3. There was only one lunch in the bag instead of two. We didn't discover until we were on the train. If you do get a lunch here, double check it before you leave the Blockhouse.
The service was bad. Any time I’ve went my meal has come slowly (with a party of 3 or 4). The food is pretty good though. Like others have said we watched our food sit in the window for quite a while. The atmosphere is pretty cool, with big TVs and an industrial type of look. I would go only if you have time to kill.

Watched our food sit in the kitchen "window" for almost 15 min while our server cashed out a large party with separate checks while other servers sorted cutlery and menus. Service was super slow (likely due to large party) that's not my problem. Had to get up 3 times to ask about daily soup and sandwich, draught beer available and for another round. Food quality was very good and portions were also good. If you can afford to wait a long watching people do everything but bring you your food, then this is the place for you.

We dined here for brunch on a Sunday with our 1 year old knowing it would be busy so we asked how long of a wait it would be. The server said not long at all. My husband saw we could eat outside so we went to the patio. We arrived around 11:20am and waited until 12:30 for our food with a busy one year old. The server only came out to check on us once after taking our order, offering coffee, not saying anything about longer wait times then didn't come out again for another 40 mins. When I received my food (the clergue) it looked like hot dogs on a bun when it had said it was scrambled eggs, French toast, sausage & bacon. The "French toast" was a hot dog bun that barely tasted like French toast. The server brought out our food but no plate for our baby making him wait another 5 mins after we received our food for a plate to eat off of. I have worked in the service industry and this was one of my worst experiences. I can understand longer wait times due to the hour on a Sunday however none of this was communicated to us and we were avoided the entire time whether intentionally or not. We usually enjoy coming here, but have had negative experiences before. We won't be returning for a long while. I hope the service improves or at least the communication.

Great food options. Large portions. Food is hot and very good. Open concept so can get noisy when full. Service was attentive.

Fantastic breakfast; one of the best spots in town. We had 5 different dishes and everyone left happy and full. The meals blew the local “breakfast-only” restaurants out of the water.

Everything I ordered was great. The Caesar I ordered was well made. The stuffed burger was delicious. Their coleslaw was also very good. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was impressive. I felt like I was in another city because of how modern it was and I was really happy about the amount of natural light in the restaurant. The price seemed a little steep when I got my bill however I will be returning.

We have been coming to the Blockhouse for a long time. We have had many excellent meals but lately not the case. Today we tried again. Breakfast was ok but definitely not the quality of the past. Menu has dropped some favorites. I don't mind paying for a good meal but not worth the cost at this point. Bacon is small and looks like a precooked meat. Amounts are small. Hollandaise sauce just tastes like a cheap cheese sauce.
Our last lunch meal we ordered Reubens and they were so fatty the grease dripped from the meat. Previously we had reubens that had been fried to jerky level and had little sauce. The waitress offered to fix it and we could tell she wasn't even happy when she brought back the replacement and offered to take it back again.
The wait staff has been very nice but the price is not worth the quality

Fab food. Fab service. Incredible restored heritage building. The only thing that gets a little mark down from me is the TV screens showing loads of sports- but for some that will be a bonus.

(Posting this as a longtime sandwich guy) FINALLY the Soo has a signature sandwich! The BIGFOOT (12”) Ciabatta is a massive meat bomb of a sandwich. Layer upon layer of sweet & salty meaty goodness with melty cheese, special sauce & jalapeños for just a bit of a tasty kick. Served hot & so delicious. Incredible! Side Dill Fries were also amazing. Awesome Caesar too. Huge portions. Great value. Go get a Bigfoot!
Kid-friendliness: Solid kids menu.

My wife and I are Sooites who have been living in Windsor for the last almost 30 years. During an impromptu visit to the are we were pleased to discover the Blockhouse, and indeed the entire Canal District. We had an excellent snack lunch, before having a lovely long stroll and coming back elsewhere for dinner!
Bravo! When were in The Soo, this will absolutely be a stop for us! Can't wait till the Micro Brewery is up and running too
Cheers!

Seated at 12:10, nobody came by—they forgot us. We had to point this out to them, and they finally took our order at 12:45. I think she probably forgot to put it in, as she came by at 1:25 telling us it would be another 15-20 min. My friend had to leave at this point. Food finally arrived at 1:45–was good, but no cutlery or napkins! At this point, we made do and ate it all rather messily. So, terrible service overall, to which they admitted—Drinks were comped. Mind you, I had only a diet coke, so while my friend saved $20, I saved $3…sadly I won’t be going back, and I strongly advise against this place for lunch.
