First I’d like to mention that I’ve eaten here several times and it’s outstanding. I’d continue my patronage 100%. That being said, I’m compelled to write a review this time as my most recent experience was less than average, and I was disappointed. We attended there on Saturday Aug 16th, I ordered the Halibut and the portion was small as well as overcooked, the fish was hard and tough. The stewed chick peas were tasty but didn’t complement the fish well and the tomato salad was cold making the rest of the dish cold. I appreciate the effort but it wasn’t a cohesive dish. For $45 it was not worth the price. I had the peach, mozzarella salad with coppa and again I was disappointed. Peaches weren’t grilled or sautéed, just cut up with the mozzarella and dressed with thinly sliced coppa and torn basil, and chili crisp, nothing special and again it could have used something else to be more cohesive and for $24 I was not impressed. Ice cream sundae was tasty but the again it was cut up peaches over soft serve. Drinks were good. I’ll go back again because as stated above the food is almost always impeccable but this visit was disappointing. Cheers.
During our stay we stumbled across this little cafe near our hotel. Wow. Great vibe and absolutely delicious food. You may need to wait awhile for your food but it well worth the wait. It was so busy we had to eat at the bar. Recommend getting reservations on the weekend. The chicken supreme was absolutely delicious and Caesar salad the best we have ever had. My husband really enjoyed the Mary’s Blue Chicken sandwich. Will definitely be back.

No vegan menu items as of June 2025. They offered to try and create a vegan dish for my dining partner. But just the fact alone that there was no vegan dishes on offer in 2025 was mind boggling. They seem to change their menu seasonally so maybe that will change with an updated menu (hopefully).
I went in June 2024 and the vibe and service was immaculate. Bartender made me a custom mocktail with a rim and everyone was so friendly and upbeat. Went back again a year later in June 2025 and something has shifted. There is not that same infectious upbeat energy vibe. Food was good but not mind blowing and mocktail was very basic, not even a rim on it.

The Ernie burger is the best burger in town by far. Always a great time going to Ernies, there's a rotating in seasonal menu along with their regular meals. Staff are always very nice and provide exceptional service. This is a must visit restaurant in The Soo!

I'm from SSM, but have lived elsewhere for a while now. I get back to visit a couple of times a year, and dinner at Ernie's is always a highlight. Having lived in Montreal, New York, and now Toronto, I can say that John and the Ernie's team have turned this into a spot that would hold it's own in ANY city. Outstanding seasonal menu with original ideas and inspiring ingredients. Delicious cocktails and a great staff.
Don't miss it if you're in SSM.

Great coffee shop with a nice vibe. The tables are a bit close together, but it kind of works with the place. Great food, good music and friendly service! They got us a table right away even without a reservation. Definitely worth checking out!

Been here a few times and its usually really great, menu is constantly changed to use fresh food in season. This time however, I was seated just beside the bathroom and every time someone went to use it, they would leave the door open and im sitting just beside it trying to enjoy my meal, while I can see directly into the toilet bowl. The staff who were very nice walked by the open door but didnt close it, so im assuming its just something they haven't thought too much about. Getting a door closer on the bathroom doors or even just having the staff close the doors when they walk by and notice its open would go a very long way to helping the atmosphere.
