I’ve been to many all-you-can-eat restaurants before, and I fully understand and respect the policy of charging for unfinished food. However, this was the first time in my life I’ve actually been charged — for just four small pieces of sushi, for 2 people.
What really disappointed me was not the policy itself, but the lack of communication. No staff mentioned that they would charge us for the leftovers. If they had simply told us, we would have gladly finished them right away.
Instead, they quietly added the charge to the bill without saying a word. It felt sneaky and unpleasant.
I completely agree that customers shouldn’t waste food, but at the very least there should be basic communication and transparency. A friendly reminder would have solved everything.
Unfortunately, this experience left a bad impression

Terrible customer service not going back

⭐☆☆☆☆ Absolutely disappointing experience

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this sushi place was a complete letdown.

The sushi was poorly labeled — for example, something marked as mango sushi actually had butterfish in it. Not only confusing but unacceptable for anyone with food preferences or allergies.

At the bar, Pepsi was served straight from a 2-litre bottle, which just screamed unprofessional. The other food options looked unappetizing, and some of the orders never even arrived.

Overall, this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had. Would not recommend to anyone looking for quality sushi or service.

Don’t even get me started on the price!!

The beef and chicken very dry. The taste of the misu soup with sour taste.
The price for each adult including tax and tips around $50 CAD and all you can eat. But the tour guy collect $80 CAD for each people and only one main course.....Beef, chicken or salmon.

Food was brought on plates with chips out of them.....bacteria.
I would much prefer a buffet where I get my own food. Would I go back? Perhaps because the shrimp was very good.

New to the Soo. People had warned me about sushi not being fresh in this town. Was told I'd never eat good sushi here. Decided to give Shogun as take out a try nonetheless. Fish was fresh. Sushi were delicious. The Soo sushi was beautifully spicy and crunchy. Rolls were on the smaller side (hence 4 starts instead of 5) but sashimi were a good size. I would eat there again!

Have eaten here several times and haven't had a bad experience yet. Was seated right away and food came fairly fast. Everything tasted great.
