The Boiler Room combines a lively sports bar and grill atmosphere with a variety of tasty food options. Customers enjoy the flavorful prime rib in the poutine and the crispy fries with soft cheese curds. The entrance, shared with a steak house, can be confusing, but signs inside help guide visitors correctly. The bruschetta bread is highly recommended. Despite a slightly undercooked pizza during a busy night, the efficient service and the wood-fired atmosphere make the experience enjoyable. The restaurant is located in a converted historic building that adds to its unique charm, and the cool vibe inside makes diners forget they are in Sault Ste. Marie.
The menu offers something for everyone, and the service is appreciated. Guests love the jalapeño wood-fired pizza and cold draft beer, along with the fish and chips served with a Greek salad. The prime rib dinner remains a popular choice, though some found the flavor to be lacking. Portions are generous, and the setting inside the brick building is both fun and inviting, with a shared space that adds to the lively atmosphere. Recently, visitors discovered this spot by chance while enjoying a walk along the waterfront and found it to be a peaceful place for a quick lunch. Their buffalo chicken pizza was praised for its fantastic dough, and the locally brewed beer on tap was a nice touch. The atmosphere and location are appreciated, and many plan to return.
Some guests had not visited since the opening but decided to try it after a day of golf, craving pizza. While the menu isn’t very large, it offers decent options. The deep-fried cheese curds stood out as a favorite, with perfect crunch and seasoning. One guest ordered a calzone with lots of cheese, though it was a bit overwhelming and larger than expected. A margherita pizza was described as decent, with tasty wood-fired crust, but some found the crust too thin and lacking more meat. The environment is unique, being in the old boiler room of a pulp mill, making it a small yet interesting space that can get busy. Despite being short-staffed at times, the staff was friendly and kind. Overall, while the pizza may not be the best in Sault Ste. Marie, the atmosphere and service make it a worthwhile visit.
