My go-to South Indian takeout place is Ammi’s! The food is amazing, and the staff are super friendly. Their combos are such great value, the porotta is one of the best I’ve had, and if you’re a fan of Kottayam fish curry—this is the place you’ve been looking for!! They also offer catering services, which is a huge plus. Highly recommended!

I recently had the pleasure of trying the dosa at this establishment, and I must say, it was absolutely delightful. The flavors were spot on, and it reminded me so much of the delicious food my mom used to make. The consistency and taste were perfect, making it a truly memorable experience. The owner is an exceptional chef and caters to the south Indian crowd. The hospitality and care they take in making sure they make great food for the customers is what i admire. I enjoyed their appam and chicken curry combo and there are always specials that the chef prepares such as the Neychoru pothi which is awesome!

We ordered catering from Ammi's for our Christmas gathering, and it was fantastic! The Mutton Biryani was outstanding—rich, authentic flavors with perfect spices and generous tender meat portions, evoking childhood memories from back home. The Appam with stew was excellent: soft, fluffy appams paired with a creamy, coconut milk-rich gravy full of flavor. The thick beef cutlets were a great value at just $2 each—crispy and juicy. Service was timely and professional, with excellent overall taste and quality that our guests raved about. We wish there were more branches in the Durham region! Highly recommend for events or authentic home-style cravings. We'll definitely order again! KIDILAN food!

This place actually serves amazing food. Ordered mutton pepper roast through Skip and was so pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be so delicious. The food felt and tasted fresh, which is quite rare these days. Big props to these guys.

Went to Ammi’s South Indian Cuisine in Scarborough with my brother on the recommendation of a friend who lives in Oshawa.
The beef biryani was perfectly cooked and had a taste that will bring me back here - perhaps a little too often.
Their mango lassi, which I rarely have as it fills me up too much, was soooo delicious. Thanks for the recommendation. It certainly was worth the trip.
