Was very confused when picking up the Chinese shortbread (光酥饼) and it was yellow and soft …tasted like the cup cakes but left to cook without a paper cup…
I grew up with the traditional version which is dry and most importantly pasty white and not that sweet!
Unless this is a different version - this is not a true 光酥饼… ! And the lady kept forcing us to buy the end of day old buns…
Don’t come here - better buns elsewhere and with better service

This establishment cheats its customers. The bun is $1.25(ant the time of this writing) and with 5% HST, it should come out to $1.31 but they total it to $1.50 which is more than the 13%. When I pointed this out to the employee, she argued with me and I left.
Won’t be back here again.

The price is very good and the buns are tasty
If you can try the taro cake, it's deepfried, not sweet and so tasty.
Bought a couple of basic buns and also tried new ones
Matcha sponge cake is delightful. I love the steam rice cakes, too
Super friendly
I'll be coming back. It's hard to say no to all the goodies in here

No frills looking Chinese bakery with many items being as cheap as it can be.
Best item in their store is the chicken pies. Everything else is just average. You will definitely find better elsewhere, but not for the prices you see here.
Egg tarts came in a pack for the ones I saw. And it was 6 for $6 which comes out to $1 each. Cannot beat that price.
The sponge cakes are huge, but tasted off. Also tried some steamed buns. Just ok. Supermarket ones tasted better.
All in all, if you want cheap, this is your place. If you want something that tastes great, not your spot.
Service was good though. People working there always trying to strike a deal to get increased sales.
Parking lot isn’t big and during the day, it’s not too bad finding a parking spot. Once night time hits, it’s like a zoo, so be weary of that.

It's affordable, the produce is all fresh, and I actually don't want too many people to know how good this place is because I'm afraid that everything in there will be bought up in one go,LOL

I went this morning. Bought 3 ham & eggs buns & 3 more buns. The boss lady said ham & eggs cost more $1.45 each. Force me to get an extra bun not to pay tax because of the different price. I said no tax will be charged on the buns since I already bought 6 buns. She's mumbled. The boss lady is not honest & overcharged the buns. Won't go back!
You can't ask questions because the store owners are extremely impatient and have a very bad attitude. They just want to charge you more money so you can buy more bread.

5 stars to this place for:
1) overcharging my bun purchase and rounding up my purchase to the nearest dollar then short changing me $5.
2) selling me old stale bread, even reheating the bread could not save it
3) the service was shocking and the attitude was not necessary
4) the misleading signs, says $1.25 for the buns but actually it's $1.50 with tax on top and rounding to the nearest dollar and no change given.
Save your money and go somewhere else!

clean and spacious bakery with classic offerings. I’ve been going to their downtown location on dundas for years and was glad to stumble across their markham location after having lunch nearby.
buns are fresh and individually wrapped. their smaller biscuits are worth trying too.

Please be more careful when paying the bill. I have been here many times, but the phenomenon of miscounting still occurs. Although this time I was only overcharged by $0.25, but I was overcounted by $0.5 twice before. But The person who collected the money was probably the landlady, and she thought it was a good deal to give it to us.

Deceptive selling practices. I normally frequent their other location, so I was in this area and stopped here.
The lady makes up a price in her head.
One each is $1.25.
I bought two assuming $2.50.
She said with tax $3.00.
To be exact should’ve been $2.83.
Buy 4 and I won’t charge you tax and it’ll be $5.00
If there was a sign or she was upfront with me about it ahead of time, I wouldn’t mind, doing it with also an arrogant attitude earns you this review.
Buns were average, not fresh as opposed to their other location which I’ve wrote years ago…
