Daimaru Sukiyaki

Arrived slightly before 12PM with my girlfriend and managed to get our names first on the waitlist. Promptly after, it started getting packed with tons of people signing up for the waitlist. Was very surprised to see how busy it was on a Wednesday afternoon at opening.

We both went for the $26.99 AYCE lunch special. Soup bases are included in the price and you can choose up to 2 different bases. Items to choose from were a bit limited from a protein perspective, but we were more than happy to inhale beef brisket slices and seafood. Veggies and sides were great too. Ice cream cone at the end was great and the perfect way to end the meal. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the Hokkaido pudding.

Service was exceptional. Staff members were very attentive, consistently topping up our soup pots, pouring water for us, and getting our food orders. Seating time is limited to 1 hour and 45 minutes. Ample time in my opinion.

Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Daimaru. I highly recommend it, especially for their lunch special. We both ate for just under $60 including a tip!

High-quality Japanese-style shabu-shabu. If there are many people, you need to book a table in advance.

Last time, I went all the way back from Montreal for their beef brisket. The server didn’t mention that they don’t have the beef brisket in store that day when I tried to order 4 plates of them.
All the other meat and veggies were served and I’ve already started eating, the beef brisket never came. When I asked the server, they said there was no beef brisket that day!!! If only they had told me earlier! I would’ve gone to eat at other place instead... And it was still the holiday price, with an extra charge for the soup base too! The soup base for the sukiyaki was super sweet and oily… I really loved the place before this bad experience 🙂

The food was amazing even though there weren't a lot of selections overall. The tom yum soup based was so creamy and good. Meats and veggies were fresh.

The service was a bit slow but nothing bad overall. We went on a monday for lunch on a normal day and surprised to see a full house. But everything is good overall.

Wonderful experience. Plenty of time to order and eat. Super attentive staff. Do join the waitlist before you come. I really like their ponzu sauce dip and Hokkaido ice cream. Cash or debit only.

The food was great but however if you don't tip, just be prepared to be questioned. The manager came up to us and asked why we didn't tip and was there anything wrong with the service, which is not professional. Tipping is optional so don't come and ask me why we did not. I'll tip if I want to. And if the service is bad, I'll tell you that. But the service was great, just did not have to approach like that.

The soup base is the most expensive, $19.99, just to impress everyone, but the actual price is not cheap, it’s a way to deceive customers.

I think it was like 2weeks ago (meant to write this when I got home, but got busy w/ other errands), Ms. Ruby was an exceptional staff member there. Always made sure everything was to our liking, the same w/ other customers^^ and the fact I still remember says something about her work traits!! Everyone there is lovely as well!

Food was so good! Approved by my friend who grew up in Japan. Be prepared to wait for 10-15 mins. even if you’re on the waitlist and they already texted you that your table is ready. As soon as we sat down, service was so quick though that there really was no need for us to flag a server down. They’ll automatically grab your empty plates and ask if you need anything if they’re passing by (and almostu always there will be a server passing by).

It was our 1st try at a hotpot place and loved it. We took the Wagyu AYCE option and all of the meat, seafood, and vegetables were super fresh and of premium quality. To top it up, the service was top-notch as well! Even though it was on a bit expensive side, i would highly recommend to give it a try if you are looking for a premium hotpot experience.

The waitlist system didn't work, and they did not answer the phone, and we had to go there in person only to find out that we had to wait for another 3 hours! This is ridiculous! They don't care about customers' time! If you value your time, do consider avoiding this place. There are lots of other hotpot options in the city.

Been here twice in the summer. First time, the experience was good. Food was quick and quality was good. They had a promotion a few months when I went where if you give them a 5 start review on social media they give you a $5 off coupon.

We came back a week later. They seated us which is a table of 6 in a middle tables with a barrier screen between us and another table of 2. The screen was not a stable plastic barrier and just like a curtain that dangled from the ceiling. The experience was quite unpleasant and seats are so tight to a point guests on the other table beside us kept knocking our beverage and food. When we presented the coupon ,we were told the coupon cannot be used for lunch menu and that was not specified in the coupon. Food is good just the service and seating at this location is quite disappointing .
