Use to come here as a young man with my friends. We use to buy one box of food for $5 and split it. This mall was busy with 3 stalls and filled with people eating. Now the mall is run down with two people in the entire mall and the original/best fried chicken on fried rice stall. Now it costs $20. I bought 1 fried chicken on fried rice and 1 Singapore noodles. Packed with food. For $40 this can feed 4 people or 3 with big appetites. In this economy that's actually a decent...
Finally got the chance to try the infamous #44.. and although the chicken was really good IF you eat it right away, the fried rice was meh. But if you take it home to enjoy later it’s not so good. For $20 you do get a container that’s filled beyond its limits and I guess that’s where the value comes in. Also tried the pork chop with noodles and that was a bust. Stick to #44 to enjoy right away but that’s about it from this shop.

I recently visited Hung Food Cooking, a hidden spot in a quiet mall on Midland and Sheppard. I joined the steady line for their legendary #44 Fried Chicken Rice. The portion was enormous. Fried chicken pieces rested on a mountain of rice that stayed lightly seasoned yet satisfying. The steam inside the box took away some crispiness, but the meat still tasted good and made for a hearty bite.
