I was very disappointed with the service at IBY Restaurant. The staff showed little respect or attention to customers, and the waiting time for orders was far too long. Good food and a welcoming attitude go hand in hand, but unfortunately, that was not the case here. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and works to improve customer service and efficiency.
I had one of the worst dining experiences at Iby Restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the service was slow and dismissive. It took forever just to get menus, and when the food finally arrived, it was cold, flavorless, and clearly not fresh. For the prices they charge, the quality was unacceptable.
But what really shocked me was how disrespectful the owner was. When we calmly voiced our concerns, instead of addressing the issue, they were rude, defensive, and completely unprofessional. There was no apology — just attitude.
Iby might look stylish from the outside, but don't be fooled. It’s all show and no substance. Between the poor food, bad service, and unwelcoming management, I’ll never go back — and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
IBY Restaurant is an East African restaurant located in Toronto. The cuisine was remarkable, and the customer service was excellent.

Delicious ethnic Somali food
One of the best meals we had! Thank you!! The food was tasty, healthy, good balance, generous portion and an amazing hot sauce that just hit the spot!
The staff are super friendly and kind.
The washrooms were super clean and fragrant with lotas!
We had the steak, salmon and pasta and fried chicken.
Fantastic. Have no experience with Somali food but this was outstanding. The chicken steak, salmon, beef, pasta, rice were all so well made. Very reasonable pricing, staff are very hospitable, bathrooms clean.
Extremely disappointing experience. The service was terrible—waiters were unprofessional and inattentive. To make matters worse, the food was undercooked. Truly one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had.
Iby Restaurant in Toronto, located at 2011 Lawrence St., has unfortunately seen a decline in food quality over time — often going from bad to worse. However, the most disappointing aspect is the attitude and behavior of the older man who interacts with customers. He speaks to patrons as if he's doing them a favor by serving them, and in some cases, even resorts to cursing. It’s no surprise that many customers have likely stopped coming due to his unacceptable conduct. His wife seems capable and professional, but he appears to overshadow and control her, she can't even have her opinion & stop his ugly behaviour.

When I requested to get chapati alone they refused idk y which they sell.
That’s greed— why can’t I just get 3 chapatis
They say you need to get it with something…. Which I couldn’t afford— and they previously sold it to me
