New Spiceland Restaurant: Take-out, Catering & Bakery

My husband ordered one chicken and one mutton kothu rotti, and specifically asked for both to be made mild. It’s clearly written “mild” on the packaging. However, when my kids tried the food, they couldn’t handle the spice at all. I tried it myself and there was absolutely no indication that the food was made mild—it was burning hot.

I called the restaurant to let them know about the issue. Unfortunately, the person who answered the phone was extremely rude and unwilling to acknowledge the mistake. He tried to justify the spice level by saying that I should have mentioned the food was for children. I don’t understand why that would be necessary, especially when I clearly asked for it to be mild and my kids can handle a little spice.

He asked me to bring the food back, but I told him I couldn’t come at that moment and was simply calling to inform them about the issue. His response? “If you can’t come back, why do I have to call?”—said in a mocking tone. I was shocked. When I asked for his name (multiple times), he finally said it was Jegan.

This experience was extremely frustrating. He showed no accountability and his response was completely irresponsible.

The kothu rotti itself was also very disappointing. It seems like the curry was pre-made with a high spice level, and they are unable—or unwilling—to adjust it as per the customer’s request

I was a regular customer and their quality of food is very bad and quantity has gotten very small and their hoppers are terrible. Ordered hoppers and they gave hours ago made hoppers instead of making it fresh.Not going there again.

I visited New spiceland Restaurant today and had a very disappointing experience. The food was not cooked properly, which made it difficult to enjoy the meal. The quality and taste were below expectations. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and improves their food preparation. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place based on my visit.

The place was dirty, and the staff seemed rude. Not until I got home did I find out the food was garbage. Whoever made mutton curry and kothu should never be in a kitchen, and I'm surprised they are employed at this restaurant. I am not a professional cook, but even I can tell the curry powder was not cooked properly, leaving a bad aftertaste from uncooked curry powder.

Absolutely terrible kotthu rotti. I did very specifically asked for a mild chicken kotthu rotti, and asked many times to confirm it. Yet, when I got home and opened it, it is not the mild one. It's spicy to a level i could not even eat a small spoon of it.

Absolutely incompetent staff works here.

the mambalam paan bcuz i was hungry. i ask a boy can u help me find the mambalam paan? guess what boy said he said no i not help u i no work here. i no he lie bcuz he wearing the blue teeshirt. after i ask the singam of the store for the sugar paan but she told me why i am here shuddap. In my professional and educated opinion, I highly don't recommend. The workers don't amplify or exemplify any signs of deep benevolence. 4o mini later i ask the outside singams where i cna find the sugar paan they say look behind u and i see spiceland. it my first time in canada that why i think. have great day everyone. this my favourite stoer.

The service at Spiceland is awful,they can’t handle a line, and it’s not worth the hassle. If I didn’t live nearby, I’d never come here. Seems like it’s only good for Canada Post workers grabbing a masala tea.

The kothu roti is so bad and spicy. Worst kothu I've ever tried! There is no kothu roti, only bunch of chilli powder and curry. I don't recommend this restaurant, specially KOTHU ROTI!!!

The kothu roti is so bad and spicy. Only thing they did they mixed chilli and added to the kothu roti. My son cried so bad even he couldn’t control the spice. There is more chilli curry than kothu roti. Worst kothu roti I’ve ever tried!!!

The food was great and It was really cheap, I would recommend this place to my friends.

Have been a frequent customer for years with a gradual drop in quality.
Yesterday's order will change that.
Ordered a masala dosa. The filling was not potatoes at all; a mashup of what I will never know, plus omelette.
Awful food. Customers know what to expect when they order South Indian food.
Vowed never to patronize Spiceland again.
