Super busy but below average Pho, service and their attitudes

Came shortly after opening on a weekday. Ordered 101 - XL combination and 250 - XL spicy peanut with beef. Hot soy milk and viet coffee which came with hot water to pour over the phin. 101 came out in few minutes and 250 slightly longer. Steaming hot like I like it. Broth clear and clean tasting but not overpowering. Was hoping for a bit more complexity but tasty nonetheless. Wished for more meat in an XL serving. 250 was thick, coconut creamy and peanuty. Soy milk was likewise hot and stayed hot until the end of my meal. Smooth. A bit chalky near the end but good. Coffee strong with nice aftertaste like the coffee I buy from Vietnam. Satisfying meal when noodle bowl cravings hit.

Positives: - Opens late at night - Got a table without waiting - seems to be a regular spot for residents in the neighborhood - well run restaurant with good operations routine, ie. menu ready, stack of order sheets under table, utensils and sauces on the table, napkins well stocked, clean table and chairs - clean washroom - the lady who looks like the manager/ owner is super nice and friendly. - pho broth was good
Not so positive ( reasons for from 5 star to 3 star): - rude serving lady, no smile, puts down the food at the corner of the table and expects the guests to take care of themselves. Her acknowledgment of our request is just a stare. No response when we say thank you. Maybe she is overworked and it’s been a long day. - my favourite Vietnamese quick meal is vermicelli because it’s light and delicious, implying that I have had a lot of vermicelli so I know what is vermicelli. I ordered spring roll & chicken vermicelli, well the vermicelli I got was not vermicelli, it was rice noodles, the thicker kind of rice noodles which made the dish more starchy and heavier. - same rice noodles were used in pho and spring rolls… those who know would know that they are supposed to be different - fried spring roll tasted doughy, not enough filling and the filling had a lot of carrots. The fresh spring roll was not tasty, the wrong rice noodles again made it taste very dense.

Even if the price has increased after ten years, the portions are getting smaller and smaller, and my friend is sitting next door and charging me a share fee? Won't go there again

This is mine and my friends favourite place to eat. We always get the same thing and it always adds up to 21 smth dollars each. Why did we get charged 30$ each? And on top of that they gave me the wrong order. When we called the place, they were not taking accountability for overcharging us and giving us the wrong order. This is stupid and I’ll never come here again. I’ll tell all my friends and family not to come here as well.

Not the most classy or cleanest place. But apart from that the food was also very vanilla. Expectedly, service followed the same rule as the rest of aspects.
Right when we entered we did not feel welcomed- the staff and who I believe was the manager/owner were so rude. The “I don’t need your business , take it or leave it” attitude. My family and I just asked for additional bowls, be seated further into the restaurant and that’s when the attitude came. It’s not a clean restaurant to begin with. The server practically dropped the bowl of pho onto the table in a manner, which it could have splashed onto the table/us. It was rude and abrupt. Despite saying thank you for their services , I had zero response ( which is fine) . They just looked like they hated everyone in sight. When the meal was finished, we asked for takeout box for our left over vermicelli and rice. The owner told us we would have to pay for the takeout box.
The food was alright, I wouldn't say it stood out. The rice in the rice dishes are NOT made with the traditional broken rice. Made with normal jasmine rice.
I would rather pay a bit more to go anywhere else than to return with this type of service.

October 2024 update: went again for the first time in a year cause it was one of the few late night places open. The XL they give you is a L at other places. They're also now charging a $0.75 "sharing" fee if you order one thing for two people. I have never heard of a restaurant charging a fee like this. What a scam this place is.
Pretty bad these days. Overpriced (high teens for just...pho), can't pay with credit card, and bland. The only thing it's got going for it is the fact it's open late. Go to Pho Quinn instead.

We decided to have a late-night snack and shared an extra-large pho noodle. To our surprise, the restaurant added a 75-cent charge for sharing. Also, the portion size of the extra-large pho noodle seems smaller compared to our last visit

We ordered the peanut and coconut soup, which is a Thai dish offered at this Vietnamese restaurant. It was very tasty and had a strong peanut taste. The service was very quick and we did not wait long for our food. I would eat here again to try the variety of foods offered.
