Royal Congee Chinese Cuisine

We have only had the congee and the shrimp wonton noodle in soup here, but let me tell you, we have probably been here at least 30 times in the last six months. That's saying something, something good. The congee is made fresh and it's not too salty and has the perfect amount of fresh ginger on it to liven it up a little. My husband only orders the pork congee. He really likes it. I have ordered the chicken congee, the fresh shrimp congee, and the plain congee. The fresh shrimp congee is my favorite congee. The shrimp are plump, and juicy and never over cooked, really tasty. The chicken congee has a lot of chicken, and also has the perfect amount of fresh ginger in it. I get the plain congee when I'm not feeling well. It's perfect as it's simple and light, yet flavourful, the ginger is soothing to the stomach and it's perfect for when you need to eat something when under the weather. The Shrimp Wonton Noodle in Soup is probably my favorite. The wontons are filled with plump, juicy, and perfectly cooked shrimp. The broth is light but flavourful, and they give you a tonne of noodles...so delicious! Someday we'll order something else as I have seen some of their food come out of their kitchen and it looks and smells absolutely delicious...not surprising. The service is always great, and friendly. There a lot of parking which makes it easy to park. I'd recommend this restaurant.

This family owned business has the best chinese food in south Scarborough at reasonable prices. Stacy runs the whole dining room herself while answering the phone for takeout orders and packing the orders for Doordash. She is always cordial and polite.

Excellent service and food -- Singapore style radish cake, deep fried chicken wings , Cantonese chow mein highly recommended

My husband and I are regulars here. They open at 11am which is a perfect time for their yummy Salmon Congee. Very generous with their salmon portions. Every bite is salmon in that Congee. No bones and no skin. LOVE it! We often order their Ho Fun with beef which is the fried rice noodles and beef dish. They prepare that basic Cantonese dish with skill. Good Wok flavour, definitely to my standards. Excellent and very reasonable prices. Quick service. They take debit card only. Highly recommend this place for good Cantonese style food!

The best congee I’ve ever had, so flavourful! The general tao is very crispy and the seafood chow mein is tasty too. Unbeatable prices for large portions. A gem of a restaurant :)

Was in the mood for some congee, heard about this place and decided to give it a try.

It’s located in an outdated strip mall in South Scarborough but don’t let the looks fool you.

The food was pretty good. The congee was on point! The chicken and beef fried rice was good, but the chicken was suspect lol. It tasted good though. The snow peas and garlic greens were very tasty.

The service was fast and efficient.

The atmosphere/decor was very basic but for this place it worked.

Check this out if you want some good food minus the decor and flare.

Purchased take out congee. Half was eaten. Found a small piece of what appears to be the steel wool used to clean pots and pans. Purchased on Dec 18,2025. Restaurant needs to be extremely careful! Unacceptable.

This is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in the area and we have tried so, so many. My GF is from Asia/of Chinese descent and it's really so consistently great. You can hear the quality as the chef cranks up the heat on the wok that things are going to be cooked to perfection. If you know you know. Best value you can find.

Second visit was even better than the first. Portion sizes and quality of the food make it well worth the reasonable prices.

The dining area is rather small but if it is now my go to place for great tasting Chinese food. Service and atmosphere inside make this a hidden gem.
