I had high expectations for Shizuku, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing.
The rice was noticeably hard and overly sour, and the nigiri did not hold together well — rice grains kept falling apart, which significantly affected the texture.
The fish had an unpleasant aftertaste and a slight fishy smell, which made it feel less fresh than expected for this type of restaurant.
The dining environment was also uncomfortable. As soon as you enter, you are already in the dining area, and during winter, every time the door opened for incoming or leaving guests, cold air blew directly onto diners seated near the entrance. It was quite distracting and unpleasant.
Service was another weak point. The staff lacked attentiveness, and when issues were apparent, there was no follow-up or acknowledgment. The chef also offered no feedback or interaction, which felt especially lacking for an omakase-style experience. Price at $285+tax/pp is not worth it at all.

The space is clean, warm, and intimate without feeling tight. Service was gentle and attentive (and very sweet about remembering no green onions for me 🥹).

Each piece of sushi tasted fresh and consistently good, with nothing trying too hard. No heavy sauces to mask freshness, no aggressive vinegar and just well-balance. You can really taste the freshness and creaminess of each piece. I also loved that they serve two types of ginger, each doing its job to reset the palate properly.

The chef was generous with off-menu recommendations and took the time to explain where each piece was from and how regions differ. We tried puffer fish milt for the first time, and the way it was prepared and seasoned made it surprisingly enjoyable. It's rich, delicate, and comforting rather than intimidating. I guess Japanese marshmallow is a suiting name.

All things considered, this felt like a very affordable omakase experience for the level of freshness, friendliness, and space. Quietly excellent, thoughtfully done, and definitely a place I’d return to.

It was very disappointing and hard to respect. Chef Wan is China grown Chinese, and is fluent in Chinese, yet he pretended not to know the language. He told customers that he only learned Chinese in Canada and even acted as if he couldn’t read basic Chinese, asking customers to teach him. This behavior felt dishonest and hypocritical. The entire experience felt fake and uncomfortable. There is nothing to be ashamed of about being Chinese and working as a sushi chef—unless you make it seem that way.

Chef Kodie hosts one of the best Omakase experiences in all of the GTA. This place is an absolute hidden gem. You are guaranteed delicious, fresh and seasonal selections no matter what time of year you go and prepared expertly by the Shizuku team. We love it here as we often get to try things that are not found in your 'average' Omakase experience. Chef is extremely knowledgeable about what he is serving and we enjoy learning about our food and where it comes from. They also have a great selection of sake. Their signature pastry dish is an absolute homerun every time. Do yourself a favour and check this place out!

We had a great omakase experience. There were a LOT of courses. The price is a bit expensive, but worth it for the amount of quality food you are getting.

The service was also great.

I would say this was one of the best omakase experiences in my recent memory.

I’ve tried a lot of omakase places in Toronto, was recommended by a friend and first time here. The place is small and intimate, like maybe 8 seats max. Everything felt fresh, balanced, and not overly fussy. It wasn’t drowning in sauces or weird flavors — just really good seafood, prepared beautifully. Added an extra order of uni, very creamy. Would definitely recommend this place!!

Came here to celebrate an anniversary. Located in a tiny, old plaza, this is not where you would expect to find a fancy and authentic omikase restaurant, but here we are!

The fish was fresh and oh-so-good (pictures are worth 1000 words and I just uploaded a novel). The staff was friendly and attentive. This was a wonderful experience and would love to be back again.

This was more authentic and also pricier than the other omikase place in Scarborough that I’ve tried but definitely worth it.

The shizuku experience is super. Chef Kodie and his capable staff deliver sumptuous Japanese cuisine using a variety of techniques and great ingredients. The tempura appetizer was really wow and that was early in what was an exceptional evening. Kudos to them. We will certainly be back.

We had the Uni tasting menu at Shizuku, and every dish was a masterpiece. The monkfish profiterole was unexpectedly one of the stars—perfectly balanced, rich, and delicate all at once. The abalone was incredibly tender and clean, and the trout was buttery with just the right touch of umami.

The highlight of the night, though, was the uni. We were lucky enough to try murasaki, aka and bafun uni, and they were truly exceptional—fresh, creamy, and luxuriously briny in all the best ways. It’s rare to find that level of quality uni in Toronto, and it completely elevated the experience.

Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the ambiance is understated and intimate. If you’re a seafood lover or a fan of refined Japanese cuisine, Shizuku is a must-visit.

Can’t wait to return!

One of my favourite omakase restaurants. Little place, clean environment, fresh food, and good services. Variety of sake selections is also good for the sake fans. The price is at the high end but worth.
