Small location, staff were very abrupt. Some of the desserts were just slapped together I feel like it could’ve been done better. Once we got in there it got so busy but they were on top of everything.

I recently visited Sugar Marmalade and had an absolutely fantastic experience. Right off the bat, the atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting and it’s the perfect spot to hang out and satisfy your sweet tooth. The service was also top-notch as the staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out quickly.

The food is absolutely delicious, but their shaved ice bowls are the real star of the show! We ordered two different ones, and they completely blew us away. The first was a gorgeous strawberry shaved ice and it was incredibly light and refreshing! The second bowl was an absolute dream for bubble tea lovers. The textures and flavors were spot on.

Got the mango shaved ice. The mango was very fresh and sweet. Love the overall flavour of the dessert. There was a lot of shaved ice at the bottom of the bowl. Wish there were more toppings towards the bottom as it was just shaved ice once we finished the toppings on top. Service was fast and water was served. They only take debit and cash.

Everything was perfect! The interior, the food, the service, and the manager is extremely nice. I tried the shaved ice and omg, it was amazing. This is a very under rated desert shop, and this is a must try! 🤩

Sugar Marmalade is nice place to visit to grab some food or dessert, but service is poor. I went in earlier this week and instantly noticed how crowded and claustrophobic it was. They tried to fit as many tables and chairs as they can in there for seating sake, but it made it very squished and uncomfortable.

After being seated, I realized that they don’t provide you with physical copies of menus here. Instead, you have to scan a QR code in order to order online. Now, my phone didn’t allow me to scan QR codes for a while due to a glitch in the settings, so I couldn’t scan this and see the menu for myself. Luckily I went with my cousin so she did it for the both of us, but if she wasn’t there I would have been stuck. Call me old fashioned but I also just prefer physical menus where I can see all the items at once instead of scrolling forever to get through the whole menu.

I also think the restaurant was too dimly lit for my preference, as the entire restaurant is already painted black, having low lighting on top of that left for very poor visibility. I saw the girls at the table next to our using flashlights when it came time to pay so they could see into their purses.

The food itself was nice. I thoroughly enjoyed the mango pancake with sundae supreme. It was fresh, light and airy - the perfect Asian style dessert. However the deep fried popcorn chicken my cousin got was wayyy too salty. Like it was so. much. salt. Any Asian aunty would have hated it, so be mindful of that if you plan on ordering the dish.

All in all, good deserts and nice place. Maybe try going to a bigger location like the one in Markham as I found that one to be nicer. Worth a visit, but not sure if it’d be the first thing I’d recommend to others or revisit myself.

Service wasn’t anything special, desserts weren’t great. The mango desserts didn’t have very fresh mangoes, or they used a different type of mango that wasn’t as sweet. The mango pancakes also had a lot of whipped cream which wasn’t great. Bubble waffle wasn’t anything special, had a good black sesame flavour. The mango rice rolls didn’t taste too great either.

This dessert shop has four locations. This time I tried the Scarborough location coz the restaurant we had dinner was only five minutes away from there. I usually go to the one in Markham. I’ve found that the menu there offers more variety than the other locations, and the food quality and taste are noticeably better.

It’s like my sixth time coming here, and wow, the mango pancake is still as perfect as it is. It didn’t take very long so the food was still in good condition. Wonderful place, check it out!
