This was our second time here and we met my daughter and her fiancé who had been a few times and had highly recommended this place.
Today we had the Pico, guac and chips, the corn ribs (surprising and incredibly delicious .. I would love the recipe), the bang bang shrimp tacos, the chicken pastor taco bowl, the cantina double smash burger and the fire and fin plus 2 chocolate tortes and the not churros. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and cannot say enough about how wonderful it all was. I live half an hour north of Barrie and I would go back just for the corn ribs alone!
Our servers were very nice and efficient.

Great little spot for some Mexican cuisine. Good service and good fun cocktails menu. Amazing margaritas also with a spicy twist. Affordable happy hour menu between 3-5 on certain days. Street parking is ok.

I took my friend here for her birthday , it was a first time for us both …but definitely not the last . We absolutely loved it . Everything was a 5+++++ . The food, the service , the atmosphere . We had the seafood dip and a Caesar salad which was delicious and the fish and chips was next level !,👌🏼👌🏼 They use the freshest of ingredients …. and you can definitely taste the difference . Oh and the margaritas were yummy too . One of the owners came by to introduce herself and ask how everything was. Don’t see that too often.. So happy to have found this gem . Cannot wait to share with family and friends .Cant wait to be back to enjoy the patio🍹 Historian Cantina is a definite must !!!

Check their socials for details. Highly reccommend the Birria Beef Tacos and Street Corn. They make their own hot sauces as well, both of which are great!

We ordered the braised beef birria tacos and the cantina beef, both of which were exceptional. The birria tacos were tender and juicy, packed with bold, authentic flavors that transported us straight to Mexico. The cantina beef was equally delicious, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning. Each bite was a burst of flavor, showing the chef’s skill and attention to detail.
Though we didn’t try any drinks, the food alone made the experience memorable. The restaurant can get lively, especially during peak hours, but that adds to the vibrant atmosphere.

The place is very clean and the staff are super friendly. I've tried many of their dishes and have been satisfied everything ive been served. My most favorite are the margaritas, Wednesdays are the day for them, spicy margartia yum! And when it's nice out the patio is great to sit back and enjoy the atmosphere.
Best Mexican food north of the 401. Excelllent menu and service with a lovely backyard deck. We missed 10$ margarita Wednesday but got a great bottle of wine for a very fair price on a Thursday night. We had the corn (amazing), Birria tacos, and smashburger (world class) on our second visit here. Can’t wait to come back with friends:
