Had the pleasure of enjoying a truly special lunch here. The Chef is really personable and made a point of checking in and caring about our experience. Was very authentic. The food was literally incredible. Like… can’t even express how good the food was. Different enough to be interesting, familiar enough to be full of comfort. It all hits exactly right. Will return as soon as I can.

Beyond the Gate is an absolute treasure for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience in Shelburne. The chef’s passion for authentic French cuisine truly shines through every dish. Without a doubt the best restaurant I have ever been to. By FAR my favourite place to eat. Highly recommend to anyone looking for something special. There’s excellent tasting food, then there’s that next level that literally can’t taste any better. That is this place, and at a very reasonable price. Their cocktails are phenomenal too!

My husband and I spent the night at a harvest host location with our RV and decided to go out for dinner. This was the most amazing experience and gem restaurant. The food was phenomenal and well prepared and presented. Thumbs way up from us northern Ontario folks.
Wow the food was amazing, we stopped for a coffe and a soup and got a full 3 course meal. The service was so welcoming and felt at home. Will definitely recommend and come bakc again

The food was authentically French, done with fresh ingredients from scratch. The chef was engaging and conversational. An excellent place! Shelburne is lucky to have such a quality restaurant. We were just traveling through but luckily they were open for lunch.

We stepped in we were welcomed and greeted me to feel very comfortable. We asked questions about the menu that were easily answered and asked about favourites and were given an explanation on the options. We ordered two appetizers, two mains, tomato pastry and a salad and two desserts. My first dessert was so good. We decided to order that. The portions are a good size. We just wanted to try A variety of things and everything I mean everything was excellent even the coffee! Definitely coming back! Thank you for the excellent service and experience!

We were spending some family time at a cabin nearby, and want to dine out for dinner. Literally just searched on Google map and visited the best rates resto but this place really blew our mind !!! It’s SO GOOD Tuna tartare is refreshing with a lemon+wasabi taste and we loved it so much that we almost got a second dish ? Skirt steak was also our fav!! We also got Baba Ganoush and Fettuccine and they all amazed us. Highly recommend! . Instruction for getting inside: when you see the gate, don’t hesitate to go in, walk couple few steps and there’s a second door. (Literally, beyond the gate). Will visit again
Kid-friendliness: There’s a baby’s changing station inside the bathroom too. It’s clean, scented, spacious, and considerate. At the corner of the dining table, there’s a basket of books. Can’t remember which books exactly but I’m sure there’s also kids books!
Wheelchair accessibility: Bathroom is surprisingly spacious considering the size of the restaurant isn’t that big really. There’s also accessible handrail attached to the wall beside the toilet, an extra chair, and it’s really thoughtful.
